The opening of Amad Hospital for Rehabilitation and Extended Care, under the patronage of the Minister of Health

In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to developing its healthcare system and enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens and residents, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, inaugurated the "Amad" Hospital for Rehabilitation and Extended Care , in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Investment, Engineer Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Olayan Holding Company, Ms. Lubna Olayan. This inauguration comes as part of the significant developmental progress witnessed by the health sector under the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Supporting investment in the health sector

The opening of the Amad Hospital is a result of constructive cooperation between the public and private sectors, as evidenced by the Minister of Investment's attendance at the event. Within the framework of the National Transformation Program and the Health Sector Transformation Program, the Kingdom is working to encourage quality investments that address gaps in specialized medical services. The medical rehabilitation and extended care sector is considered a key pillar that the Ministry aims to strengthen to alleviate pressure on referral hospitals and reduce waiting times, thereby ensuring efficient spending and improved treatment outcomes.

Medical equipment with international standards

During their tour of the hospital, Their Excellencies were shown the immense capabilities of this medical facility. The hospital comprises seven floors, five of which are dedicated entirely to medical services, with a capacity of 152 beds . The hospital was designed with meticulous attention to detail to ensure patient comfort, and includes:

  • 12 intensive care beds and 8 intermediate care beds to ensure the safety of critical cases.
  • 10 specialized clinics and 15 rooms for specialized treatment.
  • 5 gyms equipped with the latest motor rehabilitation equipment.
  • An advanced hydrotherapy unit, and simulation units to train patients in daily living skills.
  • A dialysis center with 6 dedicated units.

Comprehensive and integrated rehabilitation services

Amad Hospital's role extends beyond traditional care, offering a comprehensive model of medical rehabilitation that caters to all age groups, from children to the elderly. Its specialized services include rehabilitation for complex neurological conditions such as spinal cord injuries, strokes, and traumatic brain injuries. The hospital also provides specialized programs for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, pain management, post-accident and fracture rehabilitation, as well as prosthetic clinics and weaning programs for mechanical ventilation, making it a complete destination for extended care.

Sustainable economic and social impact

In addition to its medical role, the hospital contributes to enhancing local content and Saudization, as the project is expected to provide more than 300 direct and indirect job opportunities for Saudi nationals in various health and administrative specialties. This approach is perfectly aligned with the goals of Saudization and raising the efficiency of Saudi human capital.

In her comments, Dr. Heba Al Matar, the hospital’s executive director, explained that the hospital’s vision goes beyond the concept of clinical treatment to empowering patients to integrate into society and return to their normal lives, thus enhancing quality of life and reducing the economic and social burdens of disability.
