Jeddah Municipality closes 52 sites and confiscates 70 tons of spoiled materials
The Jeddah Municipality has intensified its field presence to address illegal commercial activities within residential neighborhoods. This initiative is part of a broader inspection campaign that ran from the last quarter of 2025 to the beginning of 2026, resulting in the closure of 52 non-compliant establishments, the identification of other sites engaged in unregulated activities, and the seizure and destruction of large quantities of spoiled goods.
Jeddah Municipality's efforts in monitoring violations within residential neighborhoods
Official reports revealed that field inspections conducted by the General Directorate for Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena, in coordination with relevant authorities, uncovered unauthorized activities operating within residential areas. These sites were being used for production and storage purposes that lacked even the most basic health and safety standards. Violations included the preparation and storage of food products, tailoring operations, trademark counterfeiting, and the haphazard production and storage of tobacco products. Consequently, 52 food preparation and storage sites, 5 trademark counterfeiting sites, and 15 tobacco production sites were shut down. Furthermore, inspection teams addressed 83 cases of undocumented workers at these sites, and legal action was taken against them to curb the spread of these unregulated operations.

Field reports revealed that apartments, villas, and courtyards were being used as clandestine workshops and warehouses. Raids resulted in the disposal of approximately 40 tons of spoiled food, 20 tons of tobacco and shisha of unknown origin, and 10 tons of illegal manufacturing equipment. More than 700,000 counterfeit labels and printed materials bearing well-known brand names were also confiscated. In a humanitarian gesture reflecting social responsibility, the consumable goods were sorted and repurposed; approximately 9 tons of safe food were donated to charities, along with 18 truckloads of new clothing and sewing equipment to support needy families benefiting from social welfare programs.
