Jeddah Education Department strictly enforces attendance regulations upon students' return

The General Directorate of Education in Jeddah announced this morning, Sunday, the immediate and strict implementation of school discipline and the enforcement of attendance and behavior rules from the very first moments of the school day. This move coincides with the return of more than 700,000 students to their classrooms, in a step aimed at ensuring a strong and serious start to the second semester of the academic year 1447 AH, and working to improve learning outcomes and prevent any waste of instructional time.
Field readiness and technology activation
Schools across the governorate witnessed a high level of attendance from early morning, amidst meticulous administrative procedures for monitoring absences through the ministry's approved electronic systems. These measures reflected a strong sense of responsibility on the part of students and parents, who demonstrated remarkable cooperation, believing in the importance of a strong start and its direct impact on academic achievement.
School administrations kept pace with the influx of students with complete technical and environmental readiness, as they prepared halls and classrooms to be stimulating and safe environments, ensuring that the educational process runs regularly and smoothly immediately after the end of the morning assembly, thus blocking the way for the manifestations of laxity that may accompany the first days after the holidays.
The context of education development and Vision 2030
This procedural tightening is not an isolated event, but rather comes within the context of the major transformations taking place in the education sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030 , specifically the Human Capital Development Program. In recent years, the Ministry of Education has worked to update its conduct and attendance regulations to reduce absenteeism, particularly in the weeks preceding and following holidays, to ensure that every school day is used to enhance students' essential skills.
The educational and economic importance of discipline
For her part, Manal Al-Lahibi, Director General of Education in Jeddah Governorate, emphasized that school discipline is the cornerstone of success, stressing that enforcing regulations is not a punitive measure in itself, but rather an educational tool to reinforce the values of diligence and perseverance. She pointed out that discipline instilled in a young age lays the foundation for a future generation that is professionally committed and capable of competing in the local, regional, and international job markets.
Educational studies indicate a close relationship between school attendance and high performance indicators in national and international tests, making the application of these regulations an urgent necessity to improve the Kingdom’s ranking in global educational indicators.
Integration of roles between family and school
Initial field reports indicate that the integrated roles of the school and the family played a crucial part in achieving high attendance rates today. The growing community awareness of the importance of regular attendance also contributed to motivating students to return with high morale and a mental readiness to learn, promising a successful academic term that will positively impact the overall performance of the governorate.
