Pilgrims exempted from fees and granted an exceptional grace period to depart

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced an exceptional decision aimed at facilitating the pilgrimage for Umrah pilgrims and visitors. It was decided to exempt pilgrims whose visas expired on the 8th of Ramadan from all usual extension fees. This generous gesture grants them an exceptional grace period to depart directly through the Kingdom's various international ports of entry. This grace period will continue until the 1st of Dhu al-Qi'dah, directly contributing to facilitating their travel and return to their home countries with ease and convenience.
The Ministry confirmed in its official statement that this category of visitors has the right to leave the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia smoothly and without incurring any additional financial burdens or overstay fines. It also clarified that those covered by this decision are not required to visit the relevant authorities or passport offices to extend their previous visas, thus saving them time and effort and reflecting the wise leadership's commitment to the comfort of those visiting the Two Holy Mosques.
The Kingdom's historic efforts in serving and exempting the guests of God
Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has spared no effort in removing obstacles for those visiting the Holy Mosque in Mecca. The decision to exempt pilgrims from fees in exceptional circumstances is an extension of a series of historical initiatives adopted by the Kingdom since its founding. Successive governments have worked to develop infrastructure and modernize legislative and administrative systems to accommodate the millions of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims annually. In times of crisis or exceptional circumstances that may disrupt air travel or other forms of movement, the Kingdom always takes proactive measures that prioritize the well-being and safety of visitors. This reflects a firm commitment to serving Islam and Muslims and underscores the Kingdom's leading role in crowd management and facilitating the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
The grace period for corrective measures has ended, and departures are proceeding smoothly
The relevant authorities have set the first of Dhu al-Qi'dah, corresponding to April 18th, as the deadline for the grace period granted to visitors. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah explained that this exceptional measure is part of a comprehensive package of proactive steps aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of departures through various air, land, and sea ports. All government sectors are working in complete harmony to manage the movement of pilgrims and visitors according to well-planned strategies that prevent overcrowding and guarantee the provision of optimal logistical services at airports and border crossings.
The positive impact of the decision at both the local and international levels
This decision has far-reaching positive implications. Locally, it helps alleviate operational pressure on government departments and border crossings, ensuring a smooth flow of travelers without congestion. Regionally and internationally, such initiatives enhance the Kingdom's positive image as a hospitable nation that prioritizes humanitarian concerns and the comfort of visitors above all material considerations. Furthermore, reassuring the families of pilgrims in their home countries that their loved ones are receiving comprehensive care and exceptional support strengthens the fraternal ties between the Kingdom and various countries of the Islamic world. The Ministry concluded by emphasizing that this step reflects its ongoing commitment to improving the quality of services and providing a convenient and flexible environment that enhances the comfort of visitors until their final departure from the Holy Land.
