Arar rains: Distance learning to be implemented in the Northern Borders region on Tuesday

of Arar and various areas of the Northern Borders witnessed today significant weather fluctuations, including scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and surface wind activity, which prompted immediate precautionary measures from the concerned authorities to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
Switching to distance learning via the Madrasati platform
In response to reports from the National Center for Meteorology and in the interest of the safety of students, teachers, and administrative staff, the General Directorate of Education in the Northern Borders Region has announced the suspension of in-person classes and their transition to distance learning for tomorrow, Tuesday. This decision includes schools in the city of Arar, as well as the governorates of Rafha and Al-Uwaiqilah . The school day will be completed via the Madrasati platform for all grade levels and the Rawdati platform for kindergarten students.
The climatic context and nature of the atmosphere in the northern regions
This rainfall is part of the weather fluctuations that northern Saudi Arabia typically experiences during transitional seasons and winter. The Northern Borders region is characterized by its geography, which is influenced by low-pressure systems originating from the Mediterranean Sea, making it susceptible to periods of atmospheric instability ranging from light to heavy rain, sometimes accompanied by hail. While this rainfall plays a vital role in the growth of the region's renowned natural pastures, extreme caution is required during these downpours due to the potential for flash flooding in wadis and ravines.
The importance of digital transformation in ensuring the continuity of the educational process
This decision stands as clear evidence of the success of the digital infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, where weather conditions are no longer a reason to halt the educational process as they were in the past. Thanks to significant government investment in the digital education sector and the development of the "My School" platform, the transition from in-person to remote learning has become seamless and highly flexible, ensuring that students do not fall behind in their education and that knowledge continues to be contingent under all circumstances.
Safety guidelines and general warnings
In light of these conditions, the relevant authorities, including the Civil Defense, urge everyone to exercise caution, stay away from areas prone to flash floods and valleys, and avoid crossing valleys while they are flowing. It is also advised to avoid open areas during thunderstorms to ensure public safety, and to continuously monitor official weather reports and early warning system alerts to stay informed about weather developments.
