In a decisive step aimed at protecting natural resources, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's office in Rabigh Governorate has intensified its monitoring and inspection tours of central markets, ports, and landing centers. This increased activity coincides with the start of the fishing ban for grouper and snapper along the Red Sea coast, which came into effect on April 1st and will continue for two consecutive months. This measure is part of the Ministry's comprehensive strategy to regulate fishing seasons and protect fish stocks from depletion.

In this context, the Director of the Ministry's office in Rabigh Governorate, Engineer Radah bin Abadel Al-Qarzi, explained that the fishing ban coincides with the breeding season of these important species. Halting fishing operations during this critical period allows fish to reproduce naturally, leading to an increase in their numbers and the replenishment of fish stocks. This measure also directly contributes to achieving ecological balance and mitigating the negative impacts of overfishing. Engineer Al-Qarzi emphasized the continuation and intensification of monitoring tours in close cooperation with relevant authorities to ensure full compliance and the strict enforcement of regulations against violators.

He clearly indicated that penalties and fines, as stipulated by regulations and laws, will be applied to anyone found to be in violation of these directives. Engineer Al-Daghis called upon all members of the community and fishermen to actively cooperate with the Ministry, emphasizing that this cooperation is the cornerstone of preserving the sustainability of marine resources and enhancing food security in the Kingdom.
