Crown Prince and Egyptian President: Summit in Jeddah to strengthen strategic partnership

In a meeting reflecting the depth of fraternal relations and strong strategic ties between Riyadh and Cairo, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Jeddah. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince hosted an Iftar banquet in honor of the Egyptian President and his accompanying delegation, during which cordial discussions took place and the close bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries were reviewed.

Historical background of long-standing relations

This visit underscores the deep-rooted historical ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, a cornerstone of joint Arab action. For decades, Saudi-Egyptian coordination has been a fundamental pillar in confronting the challenges facing the region. Relations between the two countries are built on solid foundations of mutual respect, shared visions on most regional and international issues, and a common pursuit of security and stability for the peoples of the region. Institutional mechanisms such as the Saudi-Egyptian Coordination Council translate these relations into joint action plans and projects that enhance their integration.

The importance of the meeting in light of regional challenges

The meeting is of exceptional importance given the rapid developments in the region, particularly the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip. Coordination between Riyadh and Cairo is pivotal to diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire, ensuring adequate and sustained humanitarian access, and rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land. Cooperation between the two countries is also of paramount importance on other equally sensitive issues, such as the crisis in Sudan and the need to maintain maritime security in the Red Sea—issues that directly affect the national security of both countries and require a unified approach.

Economic partnership and strategic integration

On the economic front, Saudi-Egyptian relations represent a model of growing strategic partnership. The Kingdom is one of the largest investors in Egypt, with its investments contributing to the Egyptian economy and providing job opportunities in diverse and vital sectors such as energy, real estate, industry, and agriculture. This support aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which views Egypt's stability and growth as integral to the stability and prosperity of the entire region. This meeting presents a renewed opportunity to enhance prospects for economic and trade cooperation and explore new opportunities for joint investments that will bring mutual benefit to the people of both brotherly nations.
