approaches the Hajj season, preparations are intensifying and efforts are being combined to ensure the highest quality services are provided to the pilgrims. In this context, the Royal Commission for Makkah and the Holy Sites, in coordination with relevant authorities, announced the completion of all operational and service preparations at the Yalamlam and Al-Juhfah Miqats. This achievement coincides with the increasing influx of pilgrims arriving via land, air, and sea ports, as part of comprehensive field plans aimed at enhancing the quality of services and raising the level of preparedness during Hajj season this year's exceptional
The historical significance of spatial timings in the pilgrims' journey
The designated Miqat points are historically and spiritually significant stations in the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, as they were established by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to serve as starting points for entering Ihram and commencing the rituals. The Miqat of Yalamlam, located in Al-Lith Governorate, is the main gateway for pilgrims arriving from southern Saudi Arabia and Yemen, and has historically been a major stop for pilgrim caravans. The Miqat of Al-Juhfah, located in Rabigh Governorate, is a historically and strategically important Ihram point serving those coming from the Levant, Egypt, and North Africa. The care given to these Miqats is not a recent development, but rather a continuation of a long historical legacy of care and attention aimed at facilitating the journey of those intending to visit the Sacred House of God.
Developing infrastructure and service facilities
The extensive preparations overseen by the Authority included comprehensive development and maintenance work on the facilities and services at both Miqats. Internal pathways, courtyards, and rest areas were prepared to accommodate the increasing numbers. In addition, cleaning, guidance, maintenance, and air conditioning services were enhanced to ensure the smooth flow of movement and the comfort of pilgrims from the moment they arrive. The capacity of the Yalamlam Miqat has reached over 55,000 visitors, while the capacity of the Al-Juhfah Miqat exceeds 21,000 visitors, reflecting the immense effort undertaken to accommodate these large crowds.
The impact of a successful Hajj season on both regional and international levels
Early and meticulous preparation for managing the Hajj season has dimensions and impacts that extend far beyond local boundaries. Locally, this organization contributes to revitalizing the economy and providing seasonal job opportunities, in addition to showcasing the Kingdom's administrative and security efficiency. Regionally, this development facilitates the journey of pilgrims coming from neighboring countries, thus strengthening fraternal and Islamic ties. Internationally, the Kingdom's success in managing millions of pilgrims within a specific geographical and temporal space reflects a shining image of its exceptional crowd management capabilities and confirms its global leadership in this field.
Improving the efficiency of the spatial and health guidance system
To ensure a smooth and safe experience, the Authority, in cooperation with operating entities, enhanced the readiness of prayer areas, restrooms, and ablution facilities. The presence of field operations teams and volunteer staff was also increased to provide ambulance and health services. This was accompanied by an improved multilingual guidance and awareness system to serve pilgrims of diverse nationalities and cultures, thus addressing any obstacles they might encounter.
Enhancing the Hajj experience within the framework of Vision 2030
These tremendous efforts are part of the Royal Commission for Makkah and the Holy Sites' plans to dedicate all available technical and human resources to serving the pilgrims. This tireless work is fully aligned with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically the Pilgrims Service Program, which aims to enhance the Hajj and Umrah experience and improve the quality of services provided at various Hajj and Umrah-related sites, enabling Muslims to perform their rituals with peace of mind and ease.
