Environmental security forces apprehend violators of regulations regarding sediment disposal and camel grazing in the city

The Special Forces for Environmental Security announced the successful apprehension of citizens in the Madinah region for violating environmental regulations by illegally extracting sediment and excavating soil. This action is part of ongoing campaigns led by the Environmental Security to protect natural resources and curb unregulated activities that negatively impact the ecological balance across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Details of the seizures carried out by the Environmental Security Forces
The Special Forces for Environmental Security explained that two citizens were apprehended for illegally exploiting sediment in the Madinah region. Two pieces of equipment used for excavating and transporting the soil were confiscated. Legal procedures were applied to the violators, and they were referred to the competent authorities to complete the penalties stipulated in the executive regulations of the Kingdom's Environmental Law.
Overgrazing violations in the Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve
In a related incident, authorities apprehended another citizen for grazing in prohibited areas within the Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve. The violation involved grazing 25 camels in areas where grazing is prohibited to protect vegetation and allow wildlife to grow and reproduce. Authorities confirmed that the penalty for grazing camels in reserves and prohibited areas is a fine of 500 Saudi Riyals for each camel found.
The historical context of the Kingdom's environmental vision and the importance of these measures
The Special Forces for Environmental Security were established as part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which places environmental sustainability at the forefront of its national priorities. Historically, the desert environment of the Arabian Peninsula has faced significant challenges due to overgrazing, logging, and unregulated soil erosion. Therefore, the establishment of these specialized forces serves as a cornerstone for protecting ecosystems and rigorously enforcing environmental laws.
At the local and regional levels, these efforts contribute to combating desertification and increasing green spaces, which aligns directly with the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative. Internationally, these steps reinforce the Kingdom's commitment to international agreements related to biodiversity and climate change, highlighting its leading role in protecting the planet and its sustainable development.
Environmental reporting mechanism and community participation
The Special Forces for Environmental Security urged all citizens and residents to cooperate and report any instances of environmental or wildlife violations. Reports can be submitted by calling 911 in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, while in the rest of the Kingdom, reports can be made by calling 999 or 996. Security authorities emphasized that all reports will be treated with complete confidentiality and that those who report will not be held liable, reinforcing the principle of community partnership in protecting the nation's natural resources.
