Preparations for Eid al-Fitr in the Eastern Province: 1224 facilities ready

Intensive efforts are underway to welcome Eid al-Fitr in the Eastern Province
The Eastern Province Municipality has completed all its comprehensive preparations for Eid al-Fitr in the region , equipping more than 1,224 public facilities across its various cities and governorates. This initiative is part of a well-planned and integrated operational strategy aimed primarily at providing an attractive urban environment that reflects the festive atmosphere and accommodates the expected influx of residents, visitors, and tourists during the Eid holidays.
The historical and touristic importance of the Eastern Province during holidays
The Eastern Province, with its coastal cities like Dammam, Khobar, and Jubail, is a historically popular tourist destination for Saudi and Gulf families alike. For decades, Eid celebrations in the Kingdom have been associated with heading to the eastern coast to enjoy the pleasant sea climate and entertainment. With the development of infrastructure in recent years, the region's importance has grown significantly, making it a cornerstone of the domestic tourism map. This rich tourism heritage makes the annual preparations by the Municipality crucial to ensuring the continued provision of an exceptional visitor experience, in line with the urban and architectural development the Kingdom is witnessing.
Improving the efficiency of recreational and service facilities
In detailing the fieldwork, Faisal bin Saeed Al-Zahrani, Director General of the General Administration of Media and official spokesperson for the Municipality, explained that preparations included equipping 18 public parks. This was achieved by upgrading recreational and service facilities , maintaining playground equipment and green spaces, and intensifying cleaning efforts to ensure a safe and healthy environment for families. Additionally, 14 waterfronts and corniche areas were prepared through comprehensive maintenance of lighting networks and safety features, contributing to an improved overall visual appeal of the area.
Caring for green spaces and supporting quality of life
The official spokesperson stated that the municipality has prepared more than 979 parks and public squares, including maintaining green spaces and planting seasonal flowers to create a unique aesthetic. In addition, 213 walking tracks have been developed to support healthy lifestyles and encourage physical activity. These measures are fully aligned with the objectives of the Quality of Life Programs stemming from Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to improve the urban landscape and provide diverse recreational options for citizens and residents.
Economic and tourism impact at the local and regional levels
The importance of these facilities extends beyond mere entertainment, encompassing a significant economic and tourism impact. Locally, these preparations stimulate commercial activity in markets, restaurants, and the tourist accommodation sector. Regionally, the readiness of facilities in the Eastern Province plays a pivotal role in attracting tourists from neighboring GCC countries, particularly Bahrain and Kuwait, given the geographical proximity and ease of travel via land borders. This influx of tourists reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading tourist destination in the region during holiday seasons.
Continuous monitoring to ensure the sustainability of services
Al-Zahrani concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the municipality has intensified its inspection tours and field teams to ensure the continuity of services and address any issues immediately. These tours coincide with enhanced cleaning and maintenance efforts around the clock, aligning with the community's aspirations and showcasing the Eastern Province's bright, modern image during the Eid season, guaranteeing a pleasant and safe experience for all visitors.
