The Board of Grievances is developing digital litigation using artificial intelligence

In a strategic move aimed at transforming the course of effective justice, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Sulaiman Al-Ahaideb, President of the Board of Grievances and Chairman of the Administrative Judiciary Council, chaired an important meeting today, Sunday, to discuss the latest developments in digital transformation and the applications of artificial intelligence in the judicial system. This meeting underscores the Board's commitment to developing digital litigation to keep pace with the rapid technological advancements taking place in the Kingdom.
The journey towards smart justice
This step was not a spur-of-the-moment decision, but rather part of a continuous historical development of the administrative judiciary in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since the launch of Vision 2030, the Board of Grievances has prioritized abandoning traditional paper-based transactions, transitioning entirely to a digital environment through advanced platforms such as the "Moeen" digital platform. This shift has contributed to reducing litigation time and streamlining the procedures for filing and tracking lawsuits, thus laying a solid foundation for moving towards a more advanced phase based on artificial intelligence technologies.
Digital litigation development strategies
The meeting, held at the Court's headquarters with the Electronic Transactions Committee, reviewed performance reports, success indicators for digital services, and their targets for the past period. Extensive discussions focused on launching initiatives for the next phase and leveraging modern technological innovations to enhance the efficiency of judicial work and expedite its completion. Integrating artificial intelligence into digital litigation a fundamental pillar for analyzing big data, automating archiving, and assisting in predicting the course of routine cases, thus freeing up judges to concentrate on complex legal aspects.
Dimensions and impact of employing artificial intelligence
This approach has a far-reaching impact, extending beyond the local level and positioning the Kingdom among the leading nations regionally and internationally in e-government and smart justice. Domestically, this development ensures enhanced transparency, reduces human error, and saves time and effort for beneficiaries across the Kingdom, eliminating the need to visit government offices. Regionally, the successful experience of the Board of Grievances serves as a model for leveraging technology to uphold the rule of law.
The meeting addressed mechanisms for developing and facilitating the user experience and monitoring the implementation of action plans to ensure the continued quality of the Diwan's digital platforms. At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Al-Ahaideb stressed the need to redouble efforts and support innovative ideas to enhance the Diwan's leadership in administrative justice. He emphasized that the Diwan's successes in leveraging digitalization and procedural and legislative governance necessitate further development of artificial intelligence tools to serve beneficiaries.
