The Crown Prince discusses the current situation in Sudan with Burhan

This important meeting comes within the context of the leading and historic role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the sisterly Republic of Sudan during its successive crises. Since the outbreak of armed conflict in Sudan in mid-April 2023, Riyadh, in coordination with regional and international partners, has launched serious diplomatic initiatives, most notably the Jeddah Platform for negotiations, in cooperation with the United States. This platform aims to facilitate dialogue between the Sudanese parties to the conflict, reach a humanitarian truce that guarantees the protection of civilians and facilitates the delivery of urgent relief aid to affected areas, ultimately leading to the formulation of a comprehensive and sustainable political solution.

The bilateral meeting between His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council is of paramount importance, extending beyond local borders to encompass regional and international dimensions. On the Saudi side, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Prince Musab bin Mohammed bin Farhan, Advisor to His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, National Security Advisor, His Excellency Mr. Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan, Head of General Intelligence, and His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Sudan.

On the Sudanese side, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Ibrahim, His Excellency the Director General of the General Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, and the Sudanese Ambassador to the Kingdom, Ambassador Dafallah Al-Haj Ali, were present, along with a number of Sudanese officials accompanying the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council.
