Guided Hajj buses in Mecca: 100,000 pilgrims successfully transported daily

The Hajj Bus Guidance Center in Makkah announced an exceptional achievement within its operational plan, pilgrims to their accommodations with ease. This massive operation was accomplished through more than 2,500 trips, with an intensive operational rate of over 250 trips daily during the period from the 1st to the 10th of Dhu al-Qi'dah. This proactive step is part of a comprehensive system of services launched early by the center to serve the pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1447 AH.
Historical development in the Makkah transportation system
Over the decades, Mecca has witnessed radical transformations in crowd management and the transportation of pilgrims. In the past, guiding caravans and vehicles relied entirely on human effort and traditional methods, which were time-consuming and laborious. As the number of pilgrims increased year after year, the Saudi leadership recognized the importance of a qualitative leap in this vital sector. Today, the success of the Hajj bus guidance system represents the culmination of a long journey of continuous development, as the Kingdom moved from traditional methods to adopting the latest digital technologies and artificial intelligence to facilitate the pilgrim's journey from arrival to departure.
Smart technologies and the “Guide Me” digital platform
The center's director general, Abdullah Sindi, explained that the field guidance operations rely on qualified personnel, implemented by trained guides equipped with smart tablets that utilize a precise geographic mapping system. These advanced technologies are used throughout the bus journey, from the moment the buses arrive at the entry points to Makkah to their accommodations, employing a smart mechanism that ensures adherence to the scheduled time. Sindi noted that the center, which operates under the umbrella of the Coordinating Council for Hospitality Companies and Service Providers for Pilgrims from Abroad, with the participation of the General Syndicate of Cars and the supervision of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, primarily relies on the "Arshdni" digital platform. This platform has been developed into a comprehensive smart system that supports the guides and allows for real-time bus tracking from the operations room, ensuring the safe passage of pilgrims and their arrival at their accommodations. This directly contributes to improving the quality of services provided to pilgrims.
The regional and international impact of the successful guidance of Hajj buses
The impact of this organizational success extends far beyond the local level, leaving a positive and far-reaching mark at both the regional and international levels. Through its highly efficient management and guidance of Hajj buses, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia presents a global model to be emulated in crowd management, logistics, and the application of technology to serve humanity. This excellence sends a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide and to the families of pilgrims in their home countries, confirming that the guests of God receive the highest levels of care and attention. This success also reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading nation capable of hosting and organizing the largest annual human gathering on Earth with the highest standards of security, safety, and quality.
