Absher services: Print 7 reports, and the conditions for changing the name and renewing the ID

In line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's rapid digital transformation and the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to automate government services and facilitate the lives of citizens and residents, the Ministry of Interior continues to develop its electronic services system through the "Absher" platform. This platform serves as the technological arm that has transferred government services from traditional offices to the digital realm, significantly contributing to saving time and effort and reducing congestion in government departments.

7 official reports available for printing via Absher

As part of its efforts to empower beneficiaries to manage and use their data in official procedures, the "Absher" platform, through its FAQ guide, has identified 7 vital reports that users can view and print themselves without needing to visit the relevant departments. These reports are:

  1. My report: It is a comprehensive report on the beneficiary's data.
  2. Family members data report: To be submitted to entities that require family proof.
  3. Vehicle Report: Shows the status of vehicles registered in the beneficiary's name.
  4. Traffic violation report: A detailed account of the recorded violations.
  5. Traffic Accident Report: A Historical Record of Accidents.
  6. Travel log data report: Shows entry and exit movements.
  7. Domestic worker report: To state the status of the sponsored workers.

Personal photo requirements for national ID renewal

In the context of civil status services, the Ministry of Interior's Civil Status Agency stressed the importance of adhering to technical standards when uploading personal photos for national identity card renewal, to ensure application acceptance and avoid rejection. The conditions are summarized as follows:

  • The background should be completely white.
  • The photo is recent (no more than 6 months have passed since it was taken).
  • Clear facial features, free from exaggerated expressions or cosmetics that alter the features.
  • Image quality and freedom from ink spots or holes.
  • Take the picture straight up and facing the camera, avoiding the "red-eye" effect caused by light reflection.

Online first name change service

In a significant step to facilitate services for citizens, the Civil Status Department has made available a service to change the first name through the "Absher" platform for the citizen themselves or for a family member under the age of 18. This service is completely free for all citizens.

Timeframe for implementation

The service is characterized by its flexibility and speed, as it is implemented immediately if the new name is already registered on the Civil Status Department's approved lists. However, if the name is not registered, the process takes up to five working days for review and approval.

Terms and conditions for changing the name

The Civil Status Department has set several requirements to ensure the proper organization of the name change process, which are:

  • The new name complies with approved name registration standards (such as not violating Sharia or public taste).
  • The new name must not be identical to the name of a living first-degree relative (father, mother, siblings).
  • The consent of both parents is required when changing the name of minor children (under 18 years old), except in the case of the death of one of them.
  • The absence of a previous request to change the name is still being processed.
  • The first name may be changed only twice; provided that the second time is exclusively for returning to the previous name.

These services reflect the great development in the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure, where beneficiaries can now complete transactions that used to take days in just a few minutes, which enhances the quality of life and raises the efficiency of government work.
