90 seconds to transfer reports... The Red Crescent activates proactive response during Hajj

The head of the authority confirmed Saudi Red Crescent Dr. Jalal Al-Owaisi, during his participation in the Health and Security in Hajj Forum, stated that the ambulance system in This year's Hajj season It witnessed a qualitative leap in response speed and decision-making efficiency, through an advanced operational system that relies on analyzing data and human densities, and directing ambulance teams according to precise standards.
He explained that during the peak of the season, especially on the ninth and tenth days of Dhu al-Hijjah, the authority deals with approximately 10,000 calls daily, which are converted into emergency reports within a period not exceeding 90 seconds, noting that this speed does not only mean the speed of reception, but also reflects the quality of decision-making before moving the field teams.
He explained that the selection of the appropriate ambulance team is not done randomly, but rather through analyzing geographical locations, studying the shortest and fastest routes, in addition to analyzing traffic density and directions within the holy sites, in order to ensure reaching cases with the highest possible efficiency.

New means of transport

He pointed out that response methods vary depending on the location and population density, ranging from the use of ambulance scooters in crowded areas to helicopter transport in cases requiring rapid intervention. He emphasized that the type of response is determined based on the most appropriate field needs for each situation.
Al-Awaisi revealed the introduction of new transportation methods this year, most notably "Rufayda," an electric vehicle named after Rufayda, the first nurse in Islam. He explained that these vehicles will operate within crowds to transport emergency cases more flexibly and quickly. This service provides more than 250 electric wheelchairs, which will be the primary means of transportation within the holy sites, supporting ambulance teams and facilitating the movement of patients and the elderly among the crowds.
He affirmed that the ambulance service effectively begins from the moment the call is received, with medical advice and treatment instructions provided over the phone before the arrival of field teams, aiming to ensure the pilgrim's safety and minimize the possibility of their health deteriorating.

proactive response

Al-Awaisi pointed out that the Red Crescent system now relies on the concept of "proactive response," a modern mechanism developed over the past three years. This mechanism depends on reading data, analyzing population density, and predicting the locations most prone to health incidents, allowing medical teams to be stationed in those locations before injuries occur.
He explained that the goal of this mechanism is not limited to rapid intervention after an incident, but extends to reducing the likelihood of pilgrims experiencing health complications by providing early medical care within the most densely populated areas. He emphasized that the organization works each season to develop its operational tools and benefit from past experiences to achieve more efficient and higher-quality ambulance services.
