53 countries... The preliminary rounds of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' competition for the Holy Quran and Sunnah begin in Dakar

It is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attaché at the Kingdom’s Embassy in Senegal, in cooperation with the General Authority for Endowments, with the participation of (100) contestants representing (53) African countries, competing in the branches of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Competition for the Holy Quran and Sunnah for African Countries
The first day saw a steady stream of contestants arriving at the qualifying venues from the early hours. The judging panels began their work in the designated halls, amidst meticulous organization. One hall was allocated for the Quran recitation competition, and another for the Sunnah (Prophetic traditions).
Participants are competing in four Quranic categories: memorizing the entire Quran with the ten canonical readings; memorizing the entire Quran along with the interpretation of the last ten parts; memorizing ten parts; and memorizing three parts (Amma, Tabarak, and Qad Sami'a).
This year's competition includes three categories based on memorizing the abridged Sahih al-Bukhari of Imam Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani, either in its entirety or in parts, along with biographies of the Companions and attention to the book's chapters.
The preliminary rounds were launched following early preparations by the organizing committees, who worked to equip the halls, arrange the judging process, and receive the contestants, ensuring the smooth and orderly conduct of the competitions. The wide participation reflects the high regard the competition enjoys among memorizers of the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah in Africa.
Serving the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet
The competition has been closely monitored since its inception by His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, the General Supervisor of Local and International Competitions.
This underscores his commitment to the success of the competition and the achievement of its objectives in serving the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and in promoting the presence of Quranic and scholarly programs sponsored by the Kingdom in various countries around the world.
The competition is one of the international initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, aimed at encouraging the memorization of the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, instilling sound Islamic values, and fostering a spirit of healthy competition among Muslims in African countries.
