The Kingdom continues its global presence and wins second place in ISEF for the third year in a row


Saudi Arabia maintained its position as the second-ranked country globally, after the United States, at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2026) for the third consecutive year. This achievement reflects the Kingdom's growing presence at the world's largest gathering for pre-university research and innovation projects.
students secured Saudi top positions in several scientific fields at the fair, including 12 major awards: one first-place award, four second-place awards, five third-place awards, and two fourth-place awards, in addition to 12 special awards.
Grand Prizes
The Kingdom ranked second globally in terms of the number of major awards, surpassing major participating countries, during the competition held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, from May 9 to 15, with the participation of more than 1,700 students representing approximately 70 countries worldwide.
The Kingdom has participated inISEFannually since 2007, represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education. This year, its total number of awards increased to 209, including 136 major awards and 73 special awards.
Saudi national team
The Saudi Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) comprises 40 students, in addition to two observers. Twenty-three students are participating in person in Phoenix, while 17 are competing remotely from Riyadh.
These students were selected to represent the Kingdom after a national competition that saw over 357,000 students submit more than 34,000 scientific projects across 22 fields as part of the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity, "Ibdaa 2026."
ISEF is the world's largest platform for pre-university research and innovation projects, with over 1,700 students from approximately 70 countries participating.
