Saudi Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemicals companies, has announced a collaboration with solutions by stc, a leading enabler of digital transformation in the Kingdom and the region, to develop a new generation of high-performance supercomputers, as part of Saudi Aramco’s ongoing efforts in the field of digital transformation.
Supporting computing in the exploration and production sector
The initiative aims to enhance Saudi Aramco’s computing capabilities in the upstream sector for hydrocarbon discovery and extraction, and will represent the largest upgrade to the company’s computing infrastructure in its history. This collaboration is a significant step forward in Saudi Aramco’s digital transformation, positioning it at the forefront of global energy companies in terms of computing power.
This supercomputer will be a crucial enabler for Saudi Aramco’s upstream operations, enabling advanced seismic data processing, reservoir modeling, and large-scale simulation.
Designed to process massive amounts of data with high speed and accuracy, this state-of-the-art system will have seven times the computing capacity currently available for Saudi Aramco’s upstream operations.
By enhancing seismic imaging and reservoir simulation and modeling capabilities, the supercomputer aims to redefine the speed and accuracy of hydrocarbon discovery and extraction, contributing to increased recovery rates and extended production lifespans from existing fields in Saudi Arabia.

Project Business Idea
The SAR 1.4 billion (USD 372.5 million) project involves the deployment of a specially designed supercomputer to support both seismic data interpretation and reservoir modeling. Leveraging advanced technologies from leading global high-performance computing companies, this project aims to provide Saudi Aramco with a competitive edge in its data-intensive exploration and production operations.
Scheduled for delivery in early 2027, the system is expected to be a cornerstone of Saudi Aramco’s digital leadership in the global energy sector. Solutions by stc will provide comprehensive solutions, including development, system and software provision, and support.
