Indonesia: “Positive” talks with Iran over oil tanker passage through the Strait of Hormuz

Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman Fahd Nabil Ahmad Mulachila explained that the Indonesian government and its embassy in Tehran had begun discussions with the Iranian government, which responded positively to Indonesia's request to allow its oil tankers to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz.

He told AFP: “The Iranian embassy (in Jakarta) has informed us of the Iranian government’s positive stance regarding the safe passage of Pertamina Group ships through the Strait of Hormuz.”.

He added that Pertamina would prepare for Tehran's "positive" response, particularly by ensuring the readiness and safety of its crews.
Fahd said, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran will continue to coordinate with all relevant parties to ensure the safe passage of Pertamina vessels through the Strait of Hormuz."
Thailand announced on Saturday that it had reached an agreement with Iran allowing its oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
