Zamzam water distribution readiness for Ramadan: 2.2 million bottles and 50 million liters daily

With the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, which sees millions of pilgrims flocking to Mecca and Medina, the National Water Company, the official operator of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Zamzam Water Project, has announced that it has raised its readiness to the highest level. These intensive preparations aim to ensure the easy and convenient provision of blessed Zamzam water to all visitors and pilgrims through an integrated system of production, distribution, and monitoring.

Historical background and importance of Zamzam water

Zamzam water holds immense religious significance for Muslims worldwide, its history intertwined with the story of Hagar and her son Ishmael (peace be upon them). When the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) left them in a barren valley near the Kaaba, and their water and food ran out, Hagar ran between the hills of Safa and Marwa searching for water. Then God sent the angel Gabriel (peace be upon him), who struck the ground with his wing, causing the blessed Zamzam spring to gush forth. Since then, the Zamzam spring has never run dry, becoming a symbol of blessing and healing, and a destination for every pilgrim visiting the holy lands. This makes its provision and care a great historical and religious responsibility.

A comprehensive operational plan for the Ramadan season

In anticipation of increased demand during the holy month, the company announced it has secured a massive strategic reserve of over 2.2 million bottles of Zamzam water. To meet the rising demand, the project's daily production capacity has been increased to 200,000 five-liter bottles. These quantities are distributed through a wide network that includes the project's headquarters and more than 750 authorized sales outlets strategically located throughout the Kingdom, facilitating access to the blessed water for citizens and residents alike.

Digital facilities and millions of supplies for the Two Holy Mosques

As part of the digital transformation and streamlined services, the purchase of small (330 ml) bottles of Zamzam water is now available electronically through the government's "Nusk" app, providing a quick and easy option for those wishing to obtain them. Regarding the direct supply to the Two Holy Mosques, the company continues to pump Zamzam water to the Grand Mosque in Mecca around the clock without interruption. The Prophet's Mosque in Medina is also supplied with massive quantities exceeding 50 million liters daily , transported using safe and hygienic mechanisms that ensure the preservation of the blessed water's unique properties.

Global technologies and strict quality control

This massive water system is managed using the latest global technologies, with all stages of production being fully automated. From drawing water from the Zamzam well, through purification and sterilization processes, to the final bottling and packaging lines, all without any human intervention ensures the highest levels of purity. To guarantee the highest standards of quality and safety, the project's advanced laboratories conduct more than 400 precise laboratory tests daily to ensure the safety and purity of the water before it reaches the pilgrims, reflecting the great importance the Kingdom places on serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
