Winter season in King Salman Reserve: events, camping, and ecotourism

The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has announced the launch of its winter season activities for this year, under the slogan “The desert is here, and winter is different with us,” in a move aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a leading ecotourism destination regionally and internationally. This launch opens the doors of the largest wildlife reserve in the Middle East to visitors, offering a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and exploration of rich heritage.
Strategic importance and unique geographical location
These events gain their significance from the exceptional value of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve, which spans vast areas covering four administrative regions (Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, Tabuk, and Hail). The reserve is a natural treasure trove, boasting stunning geographical diversity, from towering mountains and sprawling plains to deep valleys, and is a habitat for numerous rare wildlife and plants. The reserve's role extends beyond its environmental significance; it also encompasses archaeological sites and historical inscriptions dating back thousands of years, making a visit a journey through time and nature.
6 pillars for a complete tourist experience
In designing this year's season, the Authority was keen to provide a comprehensive experience that meets the aspirations of different segments, from families seeking relaxation to adventurers who love exploration, through six main themes:
- Tourist and exploration tours: These include organized nature trails that allow visitors to delve deep into the reserve and learn about its unique terrain.
- Heritage and cultural events: Programs that connect the visitor to the local identity and popular heritage of the region.
- Diverse camping experiences: Providing fully equipped sites that give visitors the opportunity to experience desert life in a safe and comfortable manner.
- Eco-resorts: Spaces dedicated to rest and relaxation amidst stunning nature, designed with environmentally friendly standards.
- Hotel and lodge accommodation: Unique accommodation options located at strategic points within the reserve to ensure a comfortable experience.
- Mobile caravans: Flexible options that give visitors the freedom to move around and stay in complete privacy.
Supporting the local economy and Vision 2030
The goals of the winter season extend beyond mere entertainment, aligning with the core objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically regarding improving quality of life and diversifying national income sources through tourism. Through these events, the Authority seeks to engage the local community, as these activities open up promising economic opportunities for residents of the areas surrounding the reserve, whether through employment in tourism services or showcasing handicrafts and heritage products.
The Authority called on all those interested and nature lovers to visit its official website KSRNR.gov.sa or follow its accounts on social media platforms (KSRNReserve) to view the details and book their preferred packages, stressing its commitment to providing sustainable tourism that preserves natural resources for future generations.
