Najran weather today: Meteorology warns of dust storms and reduced visibility

The National Center for Meteorology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued an important weather alert on Sunday regarding the weather conditions in the Najran region, warning of weather fluctuations characterized by active surface winds and the stirring up of dust and sand, which calls for caution and vigilance on the part of citizens, residents and highway users.
Weather details in Najran
The center explained in its daily report that the expected weather conditions include the city of Najran, in addition to several of its governorates: Badr Al-Janoub, Thar, Habuna, Yadma, and Khubash. The forecast indicates that these areas will experience active winds stirring up dust, leading to a significant decrease in horizontal visibility to between 1 and 3 kilometers. The meteorological department confirmed that these weather conditions will continue to affect the region until 11:00 PM this evening.
Climatic context and effects of the transition season
These weather fluctuations are occurring during a transitional period in the Kingdom's climate, a time when dust storms are common due to temperature differences and atmospheric pressure variations. Southern and southwestern regions, such as Najran, are particularly susceptible to these phenomena, which can directly impact daily life, especially traffic on highways and open roads. Furthermore, they may pose health risks to those with respiratory conditions and asthma, necessitating the implementation of necessary preventative measures.
Thunderstorms and hail in other areas
In related news regarding the general weather conditions in the Kingdom, the National Center for Meteorology's report not only warned of dust storms in Najran but also revealed forecasts of moderate to heavy thunderstorms. These storms are expected to cause flash floods and will be accompanied by hail and strong winds in scattered areas of Qassim, the Northern Borders, the Eastern Province, and the northern parts of Riyadh.
Public safety recommendations
In light of these fluctuating conditions, weather experts and relevant authorities advise following the current weather bulletins issued by the National Center for Meteorology, and adhering to the instructions of the Civil Defense, especially while driving in dusty or rainy weather, and avoiding low-lying areas and flood channels in areas experiencing rainfall, to ensure everyone’s safety.
