Weather alert: Fog and poor visibility in Hail, weather forecast

The National Center for Meteorology issued an important weather alert today for the Hail region, warning of dense fog that could reduce or even eliminate horizontal visibility. The center explained that visibility could drop below one kilometer, urging caution, especially for drivers.
The report issued by the center indicated that this weather condition includes the city of Hail and its governorates, and is particularly concentrated in open areas and highways connecting the region to neighboring governorates. The meteorological department stated that this foggy condition will continue until 9:00 AM today, which may affect morning traffic.
Saudi Arabia weather forecast for next week
In connection with the overall weather conditions in the Kingdom, most regions will experience weather fluctuations . These changes will be characterized by a noticeable increase in surface wind activity, stirring up dust and sand in some areas, as well as significant temperature fluctuations, reflecting the typical atmospheric instability during such transitional periods.
Opportunities also remain for light and scattered rainfall in a number of regions of the Kingdom, which adds more diversity to the climate map for the coming days.
Weather and climate analysis
For his part, Aqeel Al-Aqeel, a weather analyst at the National Center for Meteorology, explained that the current weather conditions in the Kingdom are not a sudden occurrence, but rather an extension of climatic fluctuations that began affecting the Kingdom in recent days. Al-Aqeel added that rainfall ranging from light to moderate was recorded, accompanied by hail in scattered locations, particularly northeast of Riyadh, parts of the Qassim region, east of Mecca, and extending to parts of the Eastern Province.
The importance of warnings and safety guidelines
These warnings are of paramount importance given the geographical nature and topography of the Hail region, which sometimes contribute to the formation of dense fog during the early morning hours in cold and transitional seasons. Fog is a weather phenomenon that poses a real danger to road safety, as the sudden decrease in visibility increases the likelihood of accidents—God forbid—if safe driving rules are not followed.
Experts and relevant authorities always advise, in such circumstances, that:
- Reduce speed in accordance with visibility.
- Use fog lights or low beam lights instead of high beam lights, which may scatter vision due to light reflecting off water droplets.
- Leave a sufficient safety distance between vehicles that exceeds the usual distance.
- Avoid sudden changes in routes.
This alert comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the National Center of Meteorology to raise the level of weather awareness and provide citizens and residents with accurate and up-to-date information, which contributes to protecting lives and property, and enhances the quality of life through advance preparation for any weather emergencies.
