Today's weather forecast for Tuesday: Rain and dust in Saudi Arabia

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather report for Tuesday in Saudi Arabia, indicating that the unstable weather conditions affecting large parts of the country will continue. The center forecasts moderate to heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds that will stir up dust and sand, potentially reducing horizontal visibility on highways and in open areas.
Rainfall and active wind map
According to meteorological data, the weather conditions include parts of the Northern Borders, Eastern Province, Riyadh, Qassim, and Hail regions, in addition to the Madinah and Makkah regions. These weather fluctuations are part of the seasonal shifts occurring in the Arabian Peninsula, where different air masses interact, causing surface wind activity and the formation of cumulonimbus clouds.
In a related context, there is still a chance of light rain, with the possibility of dense fog forming during the early morning and late night hours on the mountainous areas in Al-Baha, Asir, and Jazan regions, extending to include parts of the Tabuk and Eastern regions, which calls for caution and vigilance while driving in these conditions.
Special alerts for the Eastern Province
The National Center for Meteorology issued advanced warnings for the Eastern Province, forecasting moderate rainfall in the governorates of Khafji, Nairyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya, and Hafr Al-Batin, beginning at 7:00 AM and continuing until 4:00 PM. This rainfall will be accompanied by severe weather phenomena, including:
- Very high winds.
- Almost no horizontal visibility.
- Hailstones fell.
- Thunderstorms.
The center also warned of dust storms affecting Al-Ulya village, starting from 9 am and continuing until 6 pm, which will reduce visibility to less than 3 kilometers.
Sea conditions and maritime navigation
In terms of maritime navigation, the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf are experiencing turbulent wave activity:
- Red Sea: Wind speeds reach 55 km/h towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait, with wave heights that may exceed two and a half meters, making the sea state turbulent in the southern part.
- The Arabian Gulf: The northern and central parts are affected by rain-bearing thunderclouds that raise wind speeds to 50 km/h, and wave heights reach more than two meters, which necessitates caution for fishermen and seafarers.
The importance of following weather forecasts
These reports are of paramount importance to citizens and residents, especially drivers on highways connecting different regions, as dust-laden winds directly impact travel safety. Authorities urge everyone to stay updated on weather conditions and adhere to Civil Defense instructions, particularly regarding avoiding valleys and floodplains during rainfall.
