Weather in Saudi Arabia: Thunderstorms and hail in 9 regions

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather , indicating that the unstable weather conditions affecting most regions of Saudi Arabia will continue. The report forecasts moderate to heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by hail and strong winds, urging citizens and residents in affected areas to take precautions.

Geographical diversity and its impact on weather conditions in the Kingdom

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is characterized by its vast geographical diversity, which directly contributes to the variation in weather conditions from one region to another. While coastal areas experience high humidity, the mountainous regions in the south and west have a topography that makes them prone to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, especially during the transitional periods between seasons. This climatic diversity means that the Kingdom experiences multiple weather phenomena simultaneously, with rain falling in the south while dust storms and sandstorms rage in the northern and central regions, as reflected in today's weather report.

Weather forecast details and affected areas

According to the center's data, there is a chance of thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong winds that will stir up dust and sand in parts of Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, as well as parts of Tabuk. The report also indicated that strong winds will reduce horizontal visibility due to dust storms in parts of the aforementioned regions, extending to parts of Al-Jawf, Hail, and Qassim. Fog formation is also possible during the night and early morning hours in the southwestern and western highlands, which may affect traffic on mountain roads.

Maritime traffic in the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf

Regarding the maritime conditions, the report indicated that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly at speeds ranging from 21 to 42 km/h, with wave heights between one and two meters, resulting in a slight to moderate sea state. In the Arabian Gulf, winds will be northwesterly to northerly at speeds of 22 to 40 km/h, potentially reaching 50 km/h with the formation of thunderstorms and rain over the central region. This will lead to wave heights reaching up to two and a half meters, and rough sea conditions in those areas.

The importance of monitoring weather warnings and their effects

Following weather forecasts is of paramount importance to ensure the safety of lives and property, as these weather fluctuations directly impact daily activities and traffic, especially on highways and open roads prone to dust storms or heavy rain. Authorities consistently urge adherence to safety guidelines during rainfall and flash floods, advising people to avoid valleys and exercise caution when driving in conditions of reduced visibility due to dust or fog, all to ensure everyone's safety.
