Today's weather: Winds and dust in the Eastern Province and Riyadh, and rain

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather for Thursday in Saudi Arabia, indicating continued weather fluctuations affecting several regions. The report explained that the most prominent feature of today's weather is active surface winds stirring up dust and sand, which may lead to reduced horizontal visibility in large parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh .

Weather details and expected rainfall

According to the report, the weather conditions are not limited to dusty winds but also include a chance of light rain. Forecasts indicate the possibility of thunderstorms over parts of the western and southwestern highlands of the Kingdom, as well as the northern parts of the Eastern Province. This weather pattern is part of a series of changes affecting the Kingdom, requiring continuous monitoring of weather forecasts.

The state of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf

Regarding maritime navigation, the center explained that the Red Sea is experiencing northwesterly to northerly surface winds in the northern and central parts, while they are southeasterly to southwesterly in the southern part, with speeds ranging from 15 to 30 km/h, with wave heights ranging from half a meter to one and a half meters, making the sea state light to moderately rough.

In the Arabian Gulf , surface winds will be southeasterly to southerly at speeds of up to 36 km/h, with a similar wave height and a light to moderate sea state.

Special alerts for the Eastern Province

The National Center for Meteorology issued an advanced warning for the Eastern Province regarding blowing dust, including the governorates of Hafr Al-Batin, Al-Khafji, Al-Nairiyah, and Qaryat Al-Ulya . This weather condition will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 3:00 PM, and is expected to reduce horizontal visibility to between 3 and 5 kilometers.

Climate context and the importance of warnings

These weather fluctuations are a natural part of Saudi Arabia's climate, especially in desert and open areas that are easily affected by strong winds. These reports are of paramount importance for the safety of citizens and residents, as dust storms directly impact air quality and visibility on highways connecting the provinces.

In such weather conditions, experts advise caution while driving, and avoiding high speeds due to reduced visibility. Patients with respiratory conditions and asthma are also advised to avoid direct exposure to dust and to follow the instructions of health and security authorities to ensure public safety.
