Saudi Meteorology: Rain and thunderstorms expected in Mecca and Tabuk until evening

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued a series of important weather alerts in its daily report for Friday, indicating that several regions of the Kingdom will be affected by unstable weather conditions. The center warned of varying intensities of rainfall, ranging from light to moderate, accompanied by various weather phenomena, urging caution from citizens, residents, and those traveling on highways.
Weather details in Mecca
The weather report indicated that the Makkah region will experience rainfall accompanied by strong winds, which may cause dust storms and reduce horizontal visibility in some areas. The center also noted the possibility of thunderstorms accompanying this weather system. The affected areas include several governorates, most notably Adham, Al-Ardiyat, and Al-Lith . The center confirmed that this weather pattern will continue, God willing, until 8:00 PM this evening, urging caution while driving and avoiding low-lying areas.
Rainfall conditions in the Tabuk region
In conjunction with the weather conditions in the western region, the National Center for Meteorology issued a warning for the Tabuk region in the northern part of the Kingdom, indicating the possibility of light rain, including the city of Tabuk and the governorate of Tayma . The report stated that this rain would be accompanied by active winds affecting horizontal visibility, in addition to the possibility of thunderstorms. As with Mecca, this weather pattern is expected to continue until 8:00 PM.
The importance of early warnings and prevention
These warnings are of paramount importance in the context of public safety, as the National Center for Meteorology's periodic reports play a vital role in guiding relevant authorities, such as Civil Defense and Traffic Police, to take necessary precautions. The mountainous and coastal areas of Makkah have a unique geographical character that makes them more susceptible to flash floods and overflowing wadis during rainfall, thus increasing the importance of adhering to official instructions.
Public safety guidelines
In these conditions, authorities consistently urge the public to stay away from valleys and flood channels, and to avoid attempting to cross them regardless of how low the water level may seem. Drivers are also advised to exercise extreme caution due to slippery roads and reduced visibility caused by dust or fog accompanying the rain. Adhering to weather forecasts through official channels is crucial for ensuring the safety of lives and property during periods of seasonal weather fluctuations in the Kingdom.
