Visiting times for the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah) for men and women, and how to book a permit

The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced a comprehensive and accurate update to the visiting times of the Rawdah Al-Sharifah in the Prophet’s Mosque, allocating specific time periods for men and women, as part of its ongoing efforts to organize the flow of visitors and ensure smooth movement within the corridors of the Prophet’s Mosque.

These organizational measures are part of a comprehensive plan aimed at enabling the largest possible number of Muslims to pray in the Rawdah Ash-Sharifah (the area between the Prophet's grave and his pulpit), one of the holiest places in the Islamic world, as described in the Prophetic hadith: "Between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise." Given the large influx of worshippers to the Prophet's Mosque throughout the year, regulating entry has become essential to ensure that worship is performed in an atmosphere of tranquility and reverence.

Booking and entry mechanism for the Holy Garden

The authority clarified that visiting the Prophet's Mosque requires obtaining a permit in advance through the "Nusk" electronic platform. It noted that the permit is available only once every 565 days, a measure designed to ensure equal access for all. Visitors already near the Prophet's Mosque can also utilize the expedited pathway, subject to available capacity.

Entry points have been precisely designated to prevent overcrowding. Access to the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah) is through the southern courtyards, specifically in front of the Makkah Gate (number 37). The entry process follows established routes designed to guide crowds smoothly, facilitating entry and exit without congestion.

Schedule of times for visiting the Prophet's Mosque for men and women

The authority ensured that the times were divided in a way that would be compatible with the times of the obligatory prayers and the density of visitors. The detailed times for regular days (from Saturday to Thursday) are as follows:

  • For men: The first period starts at 2:00 AM and continues until Fajr prayer, while the second period starts at 11:20 AM and continues until Isha prayer.
  • For women: The morning period begins immediately after the Fajr prayer and continues until 11:00 AM, and the visit resumes in the evening period after the Isha prayer to continue until 2:00 AM.

As for Friday , the times have been adjusted to coincide with Friday prayers and rituals, and the times are as follows:

  • For men: The first period is from 2:00 AM until Fajr prayer, and the second period is from 9:20 AM until 11:20 AM. The visit then resumes after Friday prayer and continues until Isha prayer.
  • For women: The visit begins after the Fajr prayer and continues until 9:00 AM, then the evening period begins after the Isha prayer and extends until 2:00 AM.

Facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities

In a significant humanitarian and organizational gesture, the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques confirmed that elderly pilgrims are permitted to enter using handcarts, subject to specific guidelines that ensure their safety and the safety of others. This facilitates their visit and prayer in the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah) with ease and comfort. These arrangements reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to utilizing all available technological and human resources to serve the pilgrims, in line with the goals of Vision 2030 to enrich and facilitate the religious experience for visitors from all corners of the earth.
