Guterres praises King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center: A global model of generosity

In a new international testament reflecting the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of charitable work, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, affirmed that the Kingdom has maintained its firm and continuous commitment to providing humanitarian aid to those in need around the world, describing its efforts as “a remarkable example of generosity.”.
These remarks were made during Guterres' meeting today with His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, at the Center's headquarters in Riyadh. The Secretary-General noted that this support comes at a critical time for the world, as the pace of international aid delivery has slowed compared to previous years, thus amplifying the significance of Saudi Arabia's role.
A model of efficiency and human leadership
Guterres praised the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, describing it as a model of dedication, efficiency, and exceptional service quality. He explained that the aid provided by the center reaches the most vulnerable and affected groups in numerous countries suffering from acute crises, such as Yemen, Somalia, and Syria, as well as many other disaster-stricken areas around the world.
The UN official explained that his visit to the center's headquarters gave him a clear and deep vision of the scale of the exceptional humanitarian work being done, which embodies the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to its noble approach in providing relief to those in distress and supporting humanitarian stability.
A history of strategic partnership
In discussing the deep relationship between the two sides, António Guterres recalled the launch of this humanitarian institution when he served as High Commissioner for Refugees. He emphasized that since its establishment, a close and fruitful strategic partnership has developed between the center and various UN humanitarian agencies, contributing to alleviating the suffering of millions.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, established in 2015 under the direction of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, is the Kingdom’s humanitarian arm, having succeeded in unifying Saudi relief efforts abroad under one umbrella characterized by high organization and professionalism.
Widespread global impact
This international recognition is significant not only for the financial support it provides, but also because it reflects the center's positive impact in building a broad network of international partnerships. The center has successfully implemented thousands of projects covering vital sectors such as food security, health, shelter, education, and water and sanitation.
This visit and the statements of the UN Secretary-General confirm the prestigious position that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia occupies as one of the major international donors, and its pivotal role in strengthening the international humanitarian work system, and ensuring that aid reaches those who deserve it with complete impartiality and transparency.
