King Salman Center's aid to Yemen: Urgent medical, shelter, and food support

As part of the ongoing humanitarian bridge that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia extends to its brothers in Yemen, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid its intensive field efforts to provide urgent support in the health, shelter, and food security sectors, targeting the most needy and affected areas.

Urgent shelter support for Marib Governorate

A large aid convoy arrived in Marib Governorate yesterday, carrying 1,440 shelter kits and 1,680 tents . This aid is part of the fifth phase of the Emergency Shelter Plan project in Yemen, aimed at meeting the growing needs of displaced families. This assistance is of paramount importance because Marib Governorate is the largest refuge for internally displaced persons in Yemen, hosting hundreds of thousands of families who have fled conflict zones. This places immense pressure on infrastructure and basic services, especially with the onset of winter and the intensifying cold spells.

A qualitative leap in medical services in Hadramawt

In a related development, the center in Wadi Hadramawt inaugurated a state-of-the-art shockwave lithotripsy unit at the Specialized Center for Kidney and Urological Surgery. This inauguration is part of a project to provide medical equipment to specialized centers in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Public Health and Population.

Dr. Hani Al-Amoudi, Director of the Ministry of Health Office in Wadi and Desert Hadramawt, praised this step, stressing that providing these modern technologies represents a response to an urgent need and contributes directly to:

  • Reducing the exorbitant travel costs that patients used to incur for treatment outside the governorate or outside Yemen.
  • Improving the efficiency of the health infrastructure and enhancing the quality of medical care provided to citizens.
  • Localizing specialized medical services within Yemen.

Enhancing food security

Regarding food security, the center distributed 4,700 food baskets in the Al-Sum and Sayun districts of Hadramawt Governorate, benefiting 32,900 individuals. This project aims to combat hunger and malnutrition and secure basic living requirements for the most vulnerable families.

The humanitarian context and the Kingdom's leading role

This aid comes at a time when Yemen is experiencing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, with millions of Yemenis dependent on foreign assistance for survival. Saudi Arabia is the leading donor to Yemen, with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre having implemented hundreds of projects across all vital sectors, including education, health, water, and sanitation.

This continued support reflects the Kingdom’s firm commitment to the stability of Yemen and alleviating the suffering of its people, not only through emergency aid, but also through sustainable development projects aimed at restoring normalcy and supporting the local economy, thus strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and neighborliness between the two brotherly countries.
