Registration for the Umm Al-Qura University online Quran recitation program
Umm Al-Qura University, the prestigious academic institution in Mecca, has announced the opening of registration for its "Umm Al-Qura University Online Quran Recitation Program." This initiative is a specialized academic program aimed at serving the Holy Quran and promoting the proper learning of recitation and performance according to a sound scientific methodology, under the supervision of a select group of expert and certified reciters.
Scientific methodology with continuous chain of transmission
The university explained that the Quranic recitation center targets all those wishing to learn to read the Holy Quran and correct their recitation, whether they are beginners or seeking to master the art. The center is staffed by a select group of specialized reciters who hold Quranic certifications with an unbroken chain of transmission (sanad) back to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This direct supervision aims to raise the quality of educational outcomes and ensure the highest standards of accuracy in Quranic recitation according to the established rules of Tajweed (the science of Quranic recitation), thus providing students with a unique opportunity for oral instruction through technological means.
Historical depth and academic standing
This initiative derives its paramount importance from the prestigious standing of Umm Al-Qura University, one of the world's leading Islamic universities, due to its geographical location in Mecca, the birthplace of revelation. The university has long been a beacon of Islamic scholarship, boasting renowned faculties of Sharia, Islamic Theology, and Quranic Studies. The launch of the online Quran recitation platform is a continuation of this historical legacy, as the university seeks to leverage its accumulated academic expertise to serve Muslims across the globe, transcending the limitations of time and place.
Using technology to serve the Islamic world
In light of the digital transformation underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in line with the Kingdom's vision to harness technology to serve Islam and Muslims, this Quran recitation center underscores the university's pioneering role. The center's online system allows students from both within and outside the Kingdom to enroll in the program, thus enhancing opportunities to disseminate the culture of correct Quranic recitation globally. This initiative helps bridge the educational gap for Muslim communities abroad who may lack qualified teachers, making Umm Al-Qura University a trusted global authority in Quranic education.
Registration details and study dates
The university outlined the program's timeline, with registration remaining open until Saturday, 23 Rajab 1447 AH. Classes are scheduled to begin on Sunday, 29 Rajab 1447 AH, and will run for one semester, concluding on 10 Muharram 1448 AH. The entire program will be delivered remotely via advanced online learning platforms that facilitate direct interaction between instructors and students.
At the end of the program, the Quran Recitation Center awards an accredited attendance certificate to those who regularly attend the study, as an affirmation from the university of the importance of documenting scientific participation, and to motivate learners to continue and commit to mastering the Book of God in recitation and intonation.
