Turki Al-Sheikh is in Cairo to discuss strengthening Saudi-Egyptian entertainment cooperation

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Advisor Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh , arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on an official visit aimed at strengthening cooperation in the cultural and entertainment fields between the two brotherly countries. He was received by the Egyptian Minister of State for Information, Dr. Diaa Rashwan, in a reception reflecting the depth of the strategic relations that bind Riyadh and Cairo.
Upon his arrival, Advisor Al-Sheikh expressed his happiness with the visit via his official Facebook account, saying: “I have now arrived in my second country, Egypt, on an official visit for several days, and I was pleased to receive His Excellency my dear brother, Dr. Diaa Rashwan, Minister of Information, whom I congratulated on the leadership’s confidence in him. May God protect Egypt and the Kingdom.”.
Context of the visit: Vision 2030 meets the history of Egyptian art
This visit comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is undergoing a historic transformation in its entertainment sector, driven by Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the Kingdom's sources of income and build a thriving economy and a vibrant society. The General Entertainment Authority, under the leadership of Turki Al-Sheikh, plays a pivotal role in achieving these goals by organizing mega-events such as Riyadh Season and Jeddah Season, which have attracted millions of visitors and international stars, placing the Kingdom firmly on the global entertainment map.
In contrast, Egypt has long been the “Hollywood of the East” and the beating heart of culture and art in the Arab world for decades. With its rich history in cinema, theater, and music, and its vast pool of artistic talent and experienced professionals, Egypt represents an ideal strategic partner for the Kingdom’s entertainment ambitions. This convergence of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision and Egypt’s long-standing expertise opens the door to a partnership capable of reshaping the entertainment landscape of the entire region.
The importance and expected impact of the Saudi-Egyptian partnership
Al-Sheikh's visit carries implications that extend beyond official protocols, as it is expected to pave the way for large-scale joint projects. Domestically, this collaboration could lead to Saudi investments in the Egyptian film and television production industry, contributing to its development and creating new job opportunities. It also offers Egyptian artists a new and promising market in the Kingdom, which has become a major destination for concerts and artistic events.
Regionally, this alliance will produce high-quality, globally competitive Arabic entertainment content, enhancing the soft power of both countries. The production of joint artistic works that reflect authentic Arab culture in modern formats can reach a wider audience and offer an alternative to foreign content. Internationally, this partnership strengthens the region's position as a regional hub for media and entertainment investment and underscores the leading role played by both Riyadh and Cairo in driving the modern Arab cultural movement.
