As part of ongoing field monitoring of the transport and logistics system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, conducted an important inspection tour today at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The visit aimed to closely observe operational processes and passenger flow to ensure the provision of the best possible services to travelers.
His Excellency was accompanied on this tour by a high-level delegation of industry leaders, including His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailij, the CEO of Airports Holding Company, Eng. Raed Al-Idrisi, the CEO of Riyadh Airports Company, Mr. Ayman Abu Abah, and a number of other airport executives. The tour included an inspection of the airport's various facilities and the procedures in place to restore and ensure smooth passenger flow within the terminals, as well as an assessment of the readiness of human resources and technology.
During the visit, the Minister listened to a detailed technical presentation at the operations center by the CEO of Airports Holding Company, which covered current performance indicators, flight punctuality rates, and operational procedures. Based on this data, His Excellency Al-Jasser issued a set of strict directives emphasizing the need to intensify operational performance and continuously work to enhance the passenger experience and facilitate their travel according to the highest standards of quality and safety. He also stressed the importance of the full and effective implementation of the "Passenger Protection Regulations," which guarantee the rights of beneficiaries and define the obligations of airlines under various circumstances.
The importance of the visit in the context of the national strategy
This visit is of particular importance as it comes within the framework of implementing the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, which aims to solidify the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents. King Khalid International Airport is a cornerstone of this strategy, as the Kingdom seeks to increase airport capacity to more than 330 million passengers annually by 2030, in addition to enhancing air connectivity to reach 250 international destinations.
The Minister's directives to conduct the necessary reviews to ensure the sustainability of operational discipline reflect the Ministry's commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the civil aviation sector and addressing any emerging operational challenges. An airport is not merely a transit point; it is the Kingdom's primary gateway for visitors and tourists, making the quality of its services a crucial factor in supporting both the tourism and business sectors, especially given the increasing number of international events hosted by Riyadh.
In conclusion, adherence to the Passenger Protection Regulation and enhanced performance represent a crucial step to strengthen trust between airlines and beneficiaries, which contributes to improving the regional and international competitiveness of the Saudi aviation sector, and confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to providing a world-class travel experience that meets the aspirations of Vision 2030.
