Temperatures in Mina reach 45 degrees Celsius on the Day of Tarwiyah

The National Center of Meteorology announced its weather forecast, predicting temperatures in Mina, reaching a maximum of 45 degrees Celsius on the Day of Tarwiyah. This announcement comes amidst a comprehensive operational mobilization by all relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide accurate meteorological data, support pilgrim safety plans, and facilitate the performance of their rituals with ease and comfort.

The Pilgrims' Spiritual Journey and the Importance of the Day of Tarwiyah

The Day of Tarwiyah, which falls on the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah, is a pivotal historical and spiritual milestone in the Hajj pilgrimage. On this great day, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims converge on Mina, following the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), where they spend the night in preparation for standing on the sacred plain of Arafat. Historically, this day was named "Tarwiyah" because pilgrims used to quench their thirst with water and carry it with them to Arafat, which in the past lacked water sources. With the tremendous development witnessed in the holy sites today, services are available around the clock; however, monitoring weather conditions remains essential to ensuring the comfort and safety of the pilgrims.

Temperature forecast for Mina and accompanying weather phenomena

The National Center of Meteorology explained that weather forecasts indicate temperatures in Mina will range between a high of 45 degrees Celsius and a low of 28 degrees Celsius. This hot weather will be accompanied by strong northwesterly and northerly surface winds, which may reach speeds of up to 35 kilometers per hour. The center indicated that the expected weather conditions will be characterized by partly cloudy skies with some dust, while relative humidity levels are expected to reach 50 percent. This necessitates that pilgrims take precautions and avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight.

Early warning system and modern monitoring technologies

To address these climatic changes, the center confirmed the activation of its advanced meteorological system at the Mina Observatory. These efforts include issuing 24 hourly weather bulletins and eight detailed daily bulletins to provide operational and support agencies with round-the-clock weather updates. Four mobile automatic monitoring stations, in addition to one manned station and one fixed automatic station, have also been deployed to ensure the rapid issuance of special reports and early automated warnings in the event of any severe weather phenomena.

The regional and international impact of successful Hajj management in climatic conditions

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ability to manage millions of pilgrims under harsh climatic conditions reflects organizational efficiency of significant regional and international impact. The success of the Hajj season and ensuring the safety of pilgrims from all corners of the globe reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading nation in crisis and crowd management. This annual event also provides a global model for how advanced technologies, such as precise meteorological systems, can be utilized to protect lives and provide a safe environment, positively impacting the overall peace of mind of Muslims worldwide.

Intensify awareness programs in multiple languages

To ensure the message reaches everyone, the center highlighted the intensification of its awareness programs targeting pilgrims and field staff in five different languages. This initiative aims to raise awareness of climate changes and enhance safety measures during travel and the performance of rituals. The center emphasized its continued provision of monitoring and forecasting services in accordance with best international practices, supporting integrated national efforts to provide a safe environment for pilgrims throughout the Hajj season.
