Achievements of the Restoration and Development Association and its expansion with 130 million riyals

The CEO of the Tarmeem Development Association in the Makkah region, Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Darbah, revealed the exceptional successes achieved by the association over the past three years. The association has managed to build a comprehensive institutional model that carefully balances operational efficiency with developmental expansion, within a strategic transformation framework aimed at maximizing impact and achieving sustainability in charitable and developmental work within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The development of the non-profit sector under Vision 2030
This achievement comes at a time when the non-profit sector in Saudi Arabia is witnessing unprecedented support, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to increase the non-profit sector's contribution to the GDP to 5%. Historically, charitable efforts have focused primarily on direct care and meeting immediate needs. However, with the national transformation, the urgent need has emerged for sustainable development institutions that create a long-term impact. Here, the role of the Tarmeem Development Association has become prominent as a pioneer in shifting charitable work from a welfare-based to a development-oriented approach, by providing safe and decent housing for the most vulnerable families. This reflects a historical evolution in the concept of social solidarity in the Kingdom and propels it to broader horizons of empowerment.
The strategy of the Restoration Association for Development in empowering the development sector
During his participation in the IENA International Exhibition for the Non-Profit Sector, where he presented a paper titled "A Success Story of Transformation and Impact Maximization: Tarmeem as a Model," Al-Darbah explained that the Tarmeem Development Association has significantly expanded its operations. This expansion encompasses 17 cities and governorates in the Makkah region, empowering 62 partner associations and enabling collaboration with 108 development companies. Furthermore, over 130 million Saudi Riyals have been allocated to support beneficiaries. He emphasized that this transformation was not merely a numerical increase, but rather the establishment of a robust institutional model based on comprehensive governance, effective partnerships, and operational sustainability.

Social and economic impact at the local and regional levels
This expansion is of paramount importance and has a significant anticipated impact extending from the local to the regional level. Locally, these efforts contribute to improving the quality of life for thousands of families and reducing the gap in developmental housing, thereby enhancing social and security stability. Regionally, the institutional model offered by the association serves as a leading and reliable benchmark that can be replicated in neighboring countries to develop their non-profit sectors. Al-Darbah noted that the association's developmental outputs have included more than 48,000 beneficiaries, 8,632 projects, and 6,214 support opportunities. Its active contribution to developmental housing is also evident, with 1,983 contributions and the implementation of more than 5,000 developmental interventions, reflecting the breadth and depth of the association's societal impact.
Towards Sustainable Corporate Excellence
The association has undergone several precise developmental phases, beginning with institutional launch and identity consolidation, followed by transformation and the development of its operational model, culminating in strategic transformation, empowerment, and national sustainability. The association aims to achieve institutional excellence by 2026. In closing, Al-Darbah emphasized that the association's experience has unequivocally demonstrated that maximizing impact begins with a clear institutional model, strong strategic partnerships, the ability to accurately measure results, and continuous efforts to innovate scalable and sustainable development solutions, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the non-profit sector and achieving a lasting developmental impact.
