Classes in Najran will be suspended tomorrow, Monday, and switched to remote learning

Najran University and the region's Education Department announced the suspension of in-person classes for tomorrow, Monday, and their conversion to distance learning, in response to warnings issued by the National Center for Meteorology regarding the weather fluctuations and dust storm affecting the region. This decision comes as part of their ongoing commitment to the safety of students and all members of the education sector.
Details of the decision to suspend studies at the university and schools
Najran University clarified that the decision applies to the university's main campus and all its branches, where lectures will be delivered via the Blackboard platform to ensure the continuity of the educational process without interruption. Simultaneously, the Najran Education Department issued a similar decision mandating the transfer of studies to the "My School" platform for all students and staff in Najran city, as well as its affiliated governorates and centers, including Khubash, Thar, Habuna, Badr Al-Janoub, Yadma, and Sharurah.
Digital readiness and the continuity of education
This swift and flexible approach reflects the readiness of Saudi Arabia's digital education infrastructure. E-learning options, such as the "Madrasati" platform and "Blackboard," have become essential pillars ensuring the continuity of education during emergencies. This mechanism is a result of the Ministry of Education's efforts to develop a technologically advanced learning environment capable of adapting to various changes, guaranteeing that students do not lose school days and ensuring educational sustainability.
Safety and handling of weather conditions are the priority
These precautionary measures are in line with general directives that empower education and university directors to suspend classes based on field reports and weather alerts. The Najran region, due to its geographical location, is susceptible to seasonal weather fluctuations that may cause reduced horizontal visibility or strong winds that stir up dust and sand, potentially posing a risk to student transportation and school buses, as well as having potential health effects on those with respiratory conditions.
The National Center for Meteorology periodically emphasizes the importance of following weather bulletins and adhering to the instructions of the concerned authorities during early warning periods, to ensure the safety of lives and property, which the educational authorities in Najran responded to with high professionalism.
