Training in Medina suspended and switched to remote learning due to bad weather

The Technical College for Tourism and Hospitality in Madinah, along with the General Directorate of Technical and Vocational Training in the region, announced the suspension of in-person training today, Monday, at all its training facilities. Training will be conducted remotely via the approved e-learning platform, "Taqni Platform," in response to reports from the National Center for Meteorology regarding unstable weather conditions.
Details of the decision to suspend training
This urgent decision was made based on weather warnings and alerts issued by the National Center for Meteorology, which indicated the possibility of heavy rainfall and unstable weather conditions that could affect travel safety. The decision encompasses the Technical College for Tourism and Hospitality and all branches of technical training facilities in Medina and its surrounding governorates. The relevant authorities emphasized that this measure is primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of trainees, both male and female, as well as members of the teaching and administrative staff.
Digital readiness and the continuity of the educational process
This rapid and flexible shift towards e-learning reflects the readiness of the digital infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, particularly in the technical and vocational training sector. Under the Kingdom's Vision 2030, significant investment has been made in developing distance learning and training platforms, enabling a smooth and highly efficient transition from in-person classrooms to virtual ones. This ensures that the training process is not disrupted and that trainees' academic progress is not affected by unforeseen circumstances.
The importance of proactive safety measures
Suspending in-person classes or training sessions during severe weather conditions is part of a comprehensive national strategy for crisis and emergency management. These proactive measures aim to alleviate traffic congestion on roads during rainfall and reduce the risk of accidents, thus facilitating the work of relevant authorities such as Civil Defense and Traffic Police in dealing with any water accumulations or emergencies. These steps underscore that human safety is the top priority for all government sectors in the Kingdom.
Continuous monitoring of the weather situation
The Technical and Vocational Training Administration indicated that it is in constant and direct contact with the relevant authorities to monitor developments in the weather situation, calling on all trainees and college staff to follow the official channels to obtain updates regarding the schedule for the coming days, wishing everyone continued safety and health.
