Technical training in Mecca, Jeddah and Rabigh will be suspended tomorrow due to the weather

The General Directorate of Technical and Vocational Training in the Makkah Region officially announced the suspension of in-person training for tomorrow, Tuesday, at all its training facilities in Jeddah and Rabigh. The Directorate confirmed that the training process will not stop but will be transferred to a "distance learning" system via approved online platforms to ensure the continuity of the academic and professional development of trainees without interruption.

This decision came in response to reports received from the National Center for Meteorology, and out of concern from the concerned authorities for the safety of training and administrative staff and trainees, in light of the weather fluctuations that the region is witnessing.

Classes suspended in Jeddah, Rabigh and Khulais schools

In conjunction with the technical training decision, the Jeddah Education Department issued a similar decision to switch to distance learning via the "My School" platform for tomorrow, Tuesday. This decision includes all schools in Jeddah, Rabigh, and Khulais, and applies to all students, school staff, and education office employees. This high level of coordination between the various education and training sectors reflects a unified strategy that prioritizes human safety.

The importance of digital infrastructure in the continuity of education

This event highlights the high level of readiness of the digital infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a key achievement of Vision 2030. The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) and the Ministry of Education have successfully developed advanced electronic systems capable of accommodating millions of students and trainees simultaneously. This flexible digital transformation allows for preemptive decisions to suspend in-person attendance without disrupting academic and training schedules, thus ensuring the continuity of the educational process under various weather or emergency conditions.

The role of the National Center for Meteorology and Public Safety

Government agencies rely on the National Center for Meteorology's automated early warning system, which provides accurate and up-to-date weather data, when making decisions regarding the suspension of in-person classes and work. These proactive measures are part of the Kingdom's crisis and disaster management system, which aims to mitigate the risks posed by heavy rains and flash floods.

In this context, the General Directorate of Civil Defense always calls on citizens and residents to be cautious during rainfall, to stay away from flood channels, valleys and water accumulations, and to adhere to the instructions announced through official media to ensure everyone’s safety.
