Al-Nu'airiyah's plan for the rainy season: 110 personnel and 50 vehicles for rapid intervention

The municipality of Al-Nairiyah Governorate announced its full readiness to receive the rainy season of 1447 AH, through the activation of a comprehensive proactive emergency plan aimed at protecting lives and property and ensuring smooth traffic flow throughout the governorate. This step comes as part of ongoing efforts to improve the urban landscape and enhance the efficiency of infrastructure to deal with weather fluctuations.
Details of the operational plan and human resources
The mayor of Al-Nairiyah Governorate, Engineer Mohammed Al-Mutairi, explained that the operational plan for this season was based on thorough field studies that identified critical points and potential water accumulation areas in residential neighborhoods, main streets, and entrances to the governorate. To ensure the plan's efficient implementation, the municipality has mobilized a trained workforce of over 110 individuals, including administrative and technical staff, drivers, and laborers, to guarantee an immediate response to any emergency.
These teams were also supported by a complete fleet of 50 diverse vehicles and equipment, including high-efficiency water suction pumps, bulldozers, heavy and medium equipment, as well as vehicles equipped for rapid intervention, which were distributed and stationed at strategic points to ensure rapid access to the affected sites.
The importance of early preparation and infrastructure development
These preparations are particularly important given the climate changes the region may experience, as the Eastern Province and its governorates require a high level of preparedness to deal with rainy seasons. This proactive approach reflects the Kingdom's municipal sector's commitment to achieving quality of life goals by ensuring the sustainability of municipal services and the efficiency of stormwater drainage networks, thus contributing to reducing the environmental and economic risks that may arise from water accumulation.
In a related development, Engineer Al-Mutairi directed the intensification of preventative maintenance work on stormwater drainage networks and channels. This work included cleaning inspection chambers (manholes), removing sediment from network lines, and conducting thorough hydraulic tests to ensure the smooth flow of water and the system's efficiency in handling expected rainfall.
Joint operations room and community partnership
To ensure coordinated efforts, the municipality activated a joint operations room working around the clock in coordination with relevant government agencies and contractors. This room formed support teams to guarantee the uninterrupted continuation of water drainage and flood control operations. It serves as the central hub for crisis management and directing field teams.
The municipality concluded its statement by emphasizing the importance of community partnership, calling on all citizens and residents to cooperate and adhere to safety instructions, and to immediately report any water accumulations or field observations through the unified reporting and emergency center “940”, to ensure the rapid and effective handling of any emergency.
