Crown Prince and Erdogan discuss relations and regional developments by phone

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a telephone call today from His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Turkey. This call comes within the framework of ongoing communication between the leaderships of the two countries to strengthen ties of cooperation and coordinate positions on current issues.

During the call, the two sides reviewed the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkey, and ways to develop them in various fields to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and the efforts being made to address them, emphasizing the importance of joint action to achieve security and stability in the region.

Upward trajectory of Saudi-Turkish relations

Saudi-Turkish relations have recently witnessed significant diplomatic and political activity, reflecting both countries' desire to elevate their strategic cooperation to broader levels. This culminated in high-level reciprocal visits between the two countries' leaderships over the past few years, resulting in the signing of numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding in the fields of economy, defense, energy, and investment. These periodic contacts complement the ongoing coordination and consultation aimed at aligning political perspectives on critical issues.

The importance of regional and international coordination

This contact is of particular importance given the delicate circumstances in the Middle East and the world, where both Riyadh and Ankara play a pivotal role in shaping the regional landscape. As key players in the G20 and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, coordination between the Kingdom and Turkey is a cornerstone for enhancing regional stability. Discussions in such contacts typically focus on vital issues including security threats, the humanitarian situation in neighboring countries, and ways to support peaceful solutions to existing conflicts.

Economic and strategic partnership

On the economic front, the Kingdom's Vision 2030 aligns with Turkey's development aspirations, opening up broad prospects for investment and trade cooperation. Through these ongoing discussions, both sides seek to overcome obstacles and strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors in both countries, contributing to increased trade volumes and shared economic prosperity, which will positively impact the stability of the entire region.
