Special pathways for the elderly and people with disabilities in the Grand Mosque

In a move aimed at enhancing the experience of pilgrims and providing maximum comfort, the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced the allocation of specific, specially equipped pathways for the elderly and people with disabilities within the Grand Mosque. This initiative is part of the Authority's strategy to facilitate the performance of religious rites and rituals, and to create a safe and comfortable environment that ensures smooth movement and reduces crowding, thus contributing to the tranquility and devotion of those visiting the Holy Mosque.
The authority explained in its statement that the locations of these pathways were chosen based on thorough field studies to ensure coverage of the most needed and densely populated areas. The strategic locations that were prepared included: Ajyad Bridge, Al-Marwa Elevators, as well as Al-Arqam Bridge and Al-Arqam Elevators. These engineering layouts aim to greatly facilitate movement, thus reducing the physical hardship that these esteemed groups might face during entry and exit, or while moving between the different levels of the Grand Mosque to perform prayers, Tawaf, and Sa'i.
Kingdom Vision 2030 and serving the guests of God
These development initiatives are directly aligned with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically the Guests of God Service Program, which aims to bring about a qualitative leap in the Hajj and Umrah experience. The Kingdom is paying close attention to developing the infrastructure of the Two Holy Mosques to accommodate the increasing numbers of pilgrims, with a focus on making the holy cities and facilities more accessible and welcoming to all, including people with disabilities and the elderly, ensuring that everyone can perform their rituals with ease and without obstacles.
Integrated service system and humanitarian standards
The Authority emphasized that allocating these pathways is not an isolated measure, but rather part of a comprehensive system of logistical and field services designed to address human needs. This approach reflects the keenness of the wise leadership – may God support them – to dedicate all resources to serving pilgrims to the Grand Mosque according to the highest international standards in crowd management and service provision. This system also includes providing electric and manual wheelchairs, designating equipped prayer areas, and training personnel to best serve the elderly and people with disabilities.
In closing, the Authority called upon all visitors and pilgrims to cooperate with and utilize the “Spatial Guidance Guide” at the Grand Mosque. This digital and on-site guide accurately identifies the locations of pathways, elevators, and support services, facilitating easy and convenient navigation for worshippers and pilgrims, especially during peak times and religious seasons, thus ensuring a unique spiritual experience for all.
