Resolving the issue of rejected payments in Social Security and correcting the IBAN

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, through its Social Security platform, has outlined the official steps and procedures for handling rejected or suspended payments, which often result from issues with the beneficiary's bank account (IBAN). This clarification reflects the Ministry's commitment to ensuring that support reaches those entitled to it without delay.
Procedures for handling rejected or pending payments
The Social Security platform explained via its official account on the "X" platform (formerly Twitter) that if a beneficiary encounters a problem receiving the payment due to non-verification of the IBAN, the following steps must be followed carefully:
- Resume Payment: Log in to the online platform and select the "Resume Payment" option from the Payments icon.
- Avoid deletion: The platform strongly warned against deleting the bank account or withdrawing the application, as this complicates procedures and delays disbursement.
- IBAN verification: Make sure that the registered IBAN number is linked to the beneficiary's identity, and that the account is active and not frozen by the bank.
The ministry confirmed that if the problem persists after implementing these steps and correcting the bank account status, the beneficiary has the right to file a "financial complaint" through the platform, supported by documents proving the validity of the bank account and the absence of any impediments to receiving transfers.
Context and objectives of the improved social security system
This measure falls under the "Enhanced Social Security" system, launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve financial stability for the most vulnerable segments of society. This system is designed to be more precise in targeting beneficiaries, regardless of marital status or gender, provided they meet the eligibility requirements and established criteria.
The system aims to move beyond simply providing direct financial assistance to empowering and preparing individuals for the job market, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to build a vibrant society and a thriving economy. Accuracy of banking and personal data is a cornerstone of this digital system to ensure the speed and efficiency of financial deposits.
The importance of digital modernization and financial inclusion
IBAN verification is part of the financial inclusion and digital transformation strategy for government services. The Ministry aims to reduce paper transactions and rely entirely on verified electronic channels. This automated link between social security and Saudi banks ensures high transparency and reduces the possibility of human error in disbursement processes, thus strengthening the social safety net for citizens.
Documents required to prove residence under social security
In a related context, the Social Security Program reiterated the required documents for proving independent housing, which are a prerequisite for eligibility for support in some cases, namely:
- Electronic lease agreement documented via the "Ejar" platform.
- The property deed is in the name of the beneficiary.
- A housing certificate issued by an accredited government agency (such as developmental or charitable housing).
