Islamic Affairs in Jazan: 1600 volunteer hours dedicated to mosque maintenance

As part of its ongoing efforts to serve mosques and promote a culture of charitable work in society, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by its branch in the Jazan region, implemented a series of volunteer opportunities and initiatives aimed at the upkeep of mosques, prayer halls, and women's prayer areas. These field activities coincided with International Volunteer Day, observed annually on December 5th, reflecting the Ministry's commitment to activating its societal and institutional role in serving religious rites.
Field initiatives in Al-Dayer and Al-Aydabi
The region's governorates witnessed a surge in activity, with the volunteer work unit of the mosques department in Al-Dayer Governorate implementing a unique volunteer opportunity focused primarily on preparing and cleaning women's prayer areas. This work included intensive efforts in arranging, cleaning, and perfuming, and the activities continued for two days starting on the 14th of Jumada al-Thani, contributing to a more conducive and spiritually uplifting environment for the women.
In a related development, the volunteer work unit of the mosques department in Al-Aydabi Governorate launched a unique initiative under the slogan "Our Mosques Are Fragrant." This initiative aimed to provide exceptional care for mosques through perfuming and fumigation, as well as inspecting, examining, and arranging copies of the Quran on their designated shelves. These efforts continued for five consecutive days, reflecting a commitment to the sustainability and quality of the work.
Figures reflect the scale of the donation
Official statistics from the branch revealed that these volunteer opportunities yielded tangible results, targeting (10) mosques, prayer halls, and women's prayer rooms in the aforementioned governorates. (131) male and female volunteers from the region participated in these efforts, contributing a total of (1600) volunteer hours. These figures are a positive indicator of the spirit of initiative and cooperation inherent in the community, and the sincere desire to earn reward and blessings through serving the houses of God.
Volunteering and the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030
These efforts are integral to the broader national context, as volunteer work is a cornerstone of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to reach one million volunteers annually. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs is working diligently to achieve this goal by offering diverse volunteer opportunities through the National Volunteer Platform, enabling members of society to contribute their efforts and expertise to serving their faith and nation. Integrating youth energies into such endeavors helps refine their skills and strengthen their sense of belonging, in addition to the significant religious and social impact of serving mosques.
Continuous ministerial care and attention
These achievements and field programs come in implementation of the directives and direct supervision of His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh. The Ministry always emphasizes the importance of empowering volunteer work, not only as a job duty, but also as a noble human and Islamic value that aims to consolidate the concepts of giving and social solidarity, and to ensure that mosques are ready to receive worshippers in the best possible condition around the clock.
