Smart robots in the King Salman Quran Competition 1447

In a pioneering step reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to harnessing the latest technologies to serve Islam and Muslims, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance provided advanced robots operating with artificial intelligence technologies to serve participants and visitors in the King Salman Local Competition for Memorizing, Reciting and Interpreting the Holy Quran in its twenty-seventh session.
This unique initiative comes with direct guidance from His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh, with the aim of facilitating access to information and enhancing the experience of the 129 male and female contestants representing various regions of the Kingdom in the six branches of the competition.
Advanced technologies and global languages
The newly launched smart robots boast exceptional capabilities, able to communicate and interact in over 95 languages, making them a comprehensive and accessible information platform for everyone. These devices provide accurate and detailed information about the competition, including:
- Number of contestants and the stages they reached.
- Details of the valuable cash prizes, totaling 7 million Saudi Riyals.
- Explanation of the competition categories and the conditions for each category.
- An interactive service that allows all information and data to be sent directly to the contestants’ phones via the “WhatsApp” application.
Alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This step is not just a passing technological addition, but rather an integral part of the digital transformation strategy pursued by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Through these applications, the Ministry seeks to integrate artificial intelligence into advocacy work and serving the Book of God, reflecting the Kingdom's bright image in adopting technology to serve the true religion, and developing the environment of Quranic competitions to be more interactive and modern.
The importance and historical depth of the competition
The King Salman Local Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran holds significant local and regional importance, as it is one of the most prominent Quranic competitions, generously sponsored by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may God protect him). Throughout its previous editions, the competition has contributed to the graduation of thousands of Quran memorizers and encouraged young people to engage with the Holy Book, thus promoting moderate Islamic values and tolerance within society.
Final qualifiers begin
It is worth noting that the final rounds of the competition commenced on the evening of Friday, the 25th of Sha'ban, 1447 AH, and were inaugurated by His Excellency Minister Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh. The judging panels began listening to the recitations of the male and female contestants in an atmosphere of faith and fair competition. The qualifying rounds are scheduled to continue until the 29th of this month, after which the winners will be honored at a closing ceremony befitting the status of the Holy Quran.
