The Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council visits Malaysia to strengthen parliamentary cooperation

His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, affirmed the strength and solidity of the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Malaysia, noting that these relations are witnessing steady growth in light of the shared interest of the leadership of the two countries to strengthen them and push them towards broader horizons in various vital fields.
These statements coincide with His Excellency's official visit to the Kingdom of Malaysia, during which he is leading a high-level delegation from the Shura Council, in response to an official invitation from the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, Mr. Jawaheri Abdul. The visit aims to strengthen communication and enhance bilateral cooperation between the parliamentary institutions of the two brotherly countries.
Historical and strategic dimensions of relations
Saudi-Malaysian relations are based on a long history of brotherhood and friendship, with the two countries bound by deep religious and cultural ties, as they are both active and influential nations in the Islamic world. These relations are not limited to diplomatic aspects alone, but extend to close cooperation in the economic, educational, and investment fields, making parliamentary coordination an urgent necessity to keep pace with this momentum and provide the legislative framework supporting joint agreements and projects.
Strengthening parliamentary diplomacy
In discussing the objectives of the visit, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh explained that the trip to Malaysia is part of the Council's strategy to develop international parliamentary relations and establish effective and sustainable channels of communication between the Shura Council and the Malaysian House of Representatives. He emphasized that this cooperation forms a solid foundation for elevating joint parliamentary work to more effective levels, serving the interests of both brotherly nations and supporting the leadership's vision for achieving sustainable development in both countries.
Parliamentary diplomacy is gaining increasing importance at the present time, as it plays a pivotal role in bringing viewpoints closer and coordinating positions in international and regional forums, which is what both sides seek to achieve through intensifying consultation and exchanging legislative experiences.

During his visit, the Speaker of the Shura Council is scheduled to hold an expanded official meeting with his Malaysian counterpart, during which the close bilateral relations will be reviewed, ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation will be discussed, and issues of common interest will be addressed, as well as raising the level of coordination in international parliamentary organizations.
The official delegation accompanying His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council includes a number of council members: Mr. Faihan bin Abdulaziz bin Labdah, Dr. Asim bin Mohammed Madkhali, Engineer Ali bin Ayedh Al-Qarni, and Mr. Khalid bin Mohammed Abu Malha, in addition to a number of officials in the council, which reflects the great importance that the Kingdom attaches to this visit and its expected outcomes.
