The Speaker of the Shura Council receives the Governor of Digital Government to promote digital transformation

His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, received today at the Council’s headquarters in the capital, Riyadh, His Excellency the Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Engineer Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Suwayan, in a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening joint cooperation between the legislative authority and the executive bodies concerned with digital transformation in the Kingdom.
The role of the Shura Council in supporting digital transformation
During the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh emphasized the pivotal role of the Shura Council in studying and discussing the regulations and bylaws that form the legal infrastructure for digital transformation. He explained that the Council pays close attention to monitoring annual reports and performance indicators related to government entities to ensure their alignment with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. He noted that improving government performance and efficiency depends heavily on adopting the latest digital technologies supported by flexible and advanced legislation.
Praise for the Kingdom's international successes
For his part, His Excellency Engineer Ahmed Al-Suwayan commended the significant support provided by the Shura Council to the digital government sector, emphasizing that the stimulating legislative environment, which the Council helped formulate, was a decisive factor in the qualitative leaps achieved by the Kingdom. Al-Suwayan noted that these integrated efforts have resulted in the Kingdom achieving advanced rankings in international indicators, particularly in the areas of internet governance and the maturity of digital government services, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to providing accessible and efficient services to citizens and residents.

This meeting comes at a time when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing unprecedented technological advancements, with Vision 2030 establishing digital transformation as a cornerstone for economic diversification and improved quality of life. The Digital Government Authority was established as the regulatory body for digital government initiatives, aiming to achieve a proactive and forward-thinking digital government. These meetings are of paramount importance as they ensure alignment between legislation issued by the Shura Council and rapidly evolving technological requirements, thereby facilitating electronic connectivity, data exchange, and privacy protection.
