Islamic Affairs participates in the Sarajevo International Book Fair

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the King Fahd Cultural Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is participating in the Sarajevo International Book Fair pavilion. This prominent cultural event is being held from April 22 to 27 at the Skendera Center under the theme "The Path of the Book." This participation underscores the Kingdom's commitment to an active presence at international cultural events. This year's fair brings together approximately 200 exhibitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world, showcasing their diverse publications across a vast exhibition space exceeding 10,000 square meters.
The historical and cultural dimensions of the event
The Sarajevo Book Fair is one of the most important and prestigious cultural events in the Balkans, established as a bridge for intellectual and literary exchange between the peoples of Eastern Europe and the Islamic world. Within this historical context, the deep cultural ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bosnia and Herzegovina stand out, ties that have been clearly manifested since the opening of the King Fahd Cultural Center in Sarajevo in 2000. This center has played a pivotal role over the past decades in teaching Arabic, disseminating moderate Islamic culture, and providing educational and training services to thousands of Bosnians, making the Ministry's participation in the fair a natural and reliable extension of this rich historical legacy.
Interactive programs and publications that reflect Saudi identity
The Saudi pavilion, inaugurated in the presence of the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Anas Al-Wusaidi, presents a diverse showcase of the cultural centers' programs and publications. The pavilion features a documentary highlighting the Kingdom's cultural progress and the achievements of Saudi Vision 2030, as well as introductory films about Saudi cities and tourist attractions. It also highlights the educational programs offered by the center, with a dedicated Saudi culture corner offering visitors the opportunity to try on traditional Saudi clothing for photoshoots, a workshop on preparing Saudi coffee, and a calligraphy corner showcasing the beauty of Islamic art. For community engagement, a children's corner includes cultural competitions, educational activities, and drawings introducing the Kingdom's cities.
The regional and international impact of the Kingdom's participation in the Sarajevo International Book Fair
The participation of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in the Sarajevo International Book Fair strategic importance and a significant impact at the local, regional, and international levels. Locally in Bosnia, this participation contributes to fulfilling the Bosnian community's desire to learn about authentic Saudi culture and the Arabic language. Regionally, the Saudi pavilion serves as a beacon of cultural influence in the Balkans, fostering intercultural dialogue and the exchange of expertise with European publishing houses and academic centers. Internationally, this initiative reflects the Kingdom's leading role in serving Islam and Muslims, disseminating its noble message of moderation and tolerance, and promoting a culture of tolerance while rejecting extremism and fanaticism.
Ongoing efforts in the service of Islam and Muslims
These integrated efforts underscore the Ministry of Islamic Affairs' commitment to the care and dissemination of the Holy Quran, and the distribution of translated religious publications that serve Muslims everywhere. Active participation in such international exhibitions directly contributes to supporting joint Islamic action, developing the fields of Islamic outreach, and spreading knowledge widely, thus solidifying the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's position as a leader of the Islamic world and a champion of peace and peaceful coexistence among diverse cultures and peoples.
