The depth of Saudi-Senegalese relations
This visit comes within the framework of strengthening the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Senegal, which extend over decades of fruitful cooperation and mutual respect. Senegal is considered a strategic partner of the Kingdom in the West African region, as the two countries share similar visions on many Islamic and international issues, and are both active members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Relations between Riyadh and Dakar are witnessing continuous development across various fields, particularly in economic and developmental areas. The Kingdom has long been a major supporter of development projects in Senegal through the Saudi Fund for Development, which has financed numerous infrastructure, road, energy, and water projects, thus contributing to Senegal's economic growth.
The importance and timing of the visit
President Bassirou Diomène Faye's visit is of particular importance as it comes under the new leadership of Senegal, underscoring the Senegalese leadership's commitment to continuing and strengthening the strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Both sides are constantly seeking to explore new investment opportunities and coordinate political positions in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly nations and the Islamic world.
Jeddah, as the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and an important diplomatic center, is a major stop for receiving leaders of Islamic countries, whether to perform Umrah rituals or to hold bilateral talks aimed at strengthening ties of joint cooperation.
