SDAIA activates smart mobile operations centers to support Hajj

In a pioneering move reflecting the ongoing technological advancements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) activated a range of cutting-edge technologies during this year's Hajj season, most notably smart mobile operations centers (MOCS). This initiative is part of an advanced technological system designed to support the field efforts of government agencies involved in organizing the Hajj, enhance response times, and improve decision-making efficiency through real-time analysis of data and operational indicators, which directly and positively impacts the quality of services provided to pilgrims.
Digital transformation in serving pilgrims: The role of smart mobile operations centers
Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed great importance on serving pilgrims to the Holy Mosque in Mecca, with crowd management and service delivery mechanisms evolving over the decades. With the launch of Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom has undergone a radical transformation towards digitalization and reliance on emerging technologies. In this context, the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has emerged as a leading entity driving the advancement of artificial intelligence and data. The activation of smart mobile operations centers represents a qualitative leap from traditional management to proactive, intelligent management. These centers provide an integrated operational environment that enables SDAIA leadership and government agencies to monitor field performance in real time through advanced monitoring and analysis systems that support highly efficient operations management at critical sites and the Holy Sites.

Digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence technologies
These advanced centers incorporate several central systems linked to the digital infrastructure of the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), along with cutting-edge technologies for monitoring and analyzing data indicators, networks, and information security. Furthermore, they are equipped with smart cameras and interactive control panels that contribute to field scene analysis, situation assessment, and real-time decision-making. The centers rely primarily on artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics to enhance integration among government agencies working in Hajj, thereby improving field coordination efficiency, supporting rapid response to operational changes, and contributing to a smoother and safer experience for pilgrims.
The strategic impact of developing a smart Hajj system
The impact of these technologies extends beyond the local level, facilitating crowd movement and ensuring their safety; it encompasses regional and international dimensions. Regionally, the Kingdom is solidifying its position as a leading model in utilizing artificial intelligence to manage major mass events. Internationally, these advanced measures send reassuring messages to millions of Muslims worldwide and their governments, affirming the Kingdom's ability to provide a safe, healthy, and smart environment for performing the Hajj rituals. These efforts are an extension of the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority's (SDAIA) mission to harness modern technologies, data, and artificial intelligence to serve the pilgrims of the Holy Mosque, in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership—may God protect them—to provide all means to enhance services for the guests of God, and in fulfillment of the objectives of the Guests of God Service Program, one of the most important programs of Saudi Vision 2030.
