The Attorney General directs the acceleration of cases and oversight of prisons

Attorney General stressed the need to accelerate the pace of work in completing criminal cases and to intensify field monitoring tours of prisons and detention centers, in order to ensure the preservation of rights and enhance the efficiency of the justice system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Leadership support and independence of the Public Prosecution
The Attorney General's remarks came during his chairmanship of the periodic meeting of regional public prosecutors on Thursday, in the presence of assistant public prosecutors and a number of other officials. He began the meeting by praising the justice system from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister – may God protect them both.
Al-Muajeb pointed out that this support resulted in a rapid development in the performance indicators of the Public Prosecution, which strengthened its position and consolidated its judicial independence. He noted that the generous royal order to form the Public Prosecution Council constituted a qualitative leap in the history of the agency, as it contributed to consolidating the regulatory framework for prosecutorial work and enhancing the effectiveness of institutional governance, in line with modern judicial systems.
Prison oversight and the rights of detainees
In a related context, the Attorney General emphasized the importance of the oversight role played by the Public Prosecution, directing that inspection tours of prison facilities and detention centers be intensified throughout the Kingdom. He stressed the necessity of:
- Direct and periodic monitoring of the conditions of inmates and detainees.
- Listening to their comments and complaints and working to address them immediately according to the system.
- Verifying the legality of the detention and its legal duration.
This directive comes within the framework of the Kingdom’s keenness to apply the highest standards of human rights, and to ensure that detainees enjoy all their rights guaranteed by the applicable regulations, which reflects the Public Prosecution’s commitment to its human rights and judicial role.
Effective justice and the Kingdom's Vision 2030
The meeting addressed the concept of swift justice , with the Attorney General emphasizing the importance of strengthening coordination with relevant government agencies. He stressed that integrated efforts are the key to achieving rapid and effective justice. Expediting case processing and streamlining procedures for beneficiaries are among the Public Prosecution's primary objectives, aligning with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , which aims to enhance institutional performance and improve quality of life.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive review of performance results and achievement rates in the regional prosecution offices, a discussion of mechanisms for developing criminal procedures, and the approval of a number of regulatory recommendations aimed at enhancing the efficiency of prosecution work and unifying efforts in all regions of the Kingdom.
